Is there a computer mod for 235 or XL tires?

Okay, I've decided to go with the Michelin Pilot Sport Ribs since they offer their tire in stock sizes and sound like the better choice for everyday use. Thanks everyone

I just got mine delivered. They were here on the 2nd day! Nice job Damon.

Get your tires from Damon.

These PS Ribs looks so nice sitting out there on my deck. They'll look better on my car though!

Now that's fast service! Good job, I'm sure you'll be happy with them. BTW, they need a good wearing in before you can expect ultimate performance. Your mileage may vary
p.s.) I forgot to mention that if you are needing a location to mount and balance them without scratching your wheels, the tirerack has a list of recommended tire stores/garages with the load balance machines and quality service. Just go to their site and check installers with your zipcode.

Thanks Mark. Yep... I'm planning a road trip to Dallas (~240 miles each way), so by the time I get home, they should be in pretty good shape.
Then off to the track in a few weeks to get a really good comparison b/w them and the sucky Pzeros.

Scott, hope you like them, I have GT-2 PS2 spec 18's waiting for my car. 235/315 N rated and they really should hold up. I'll bet $1 you get the PS2's next time. The ribs cannot handle the heat in being driven hard. If you're on a big track where they can cool, they might be OK. I'll have a report after my 8/7 track event.

Scott, it's not going to screw anything up as long as you keep things in relative perspective i.e do something like 195 fronts and 315 rears.

I dont remember the ratio over which the AWD starts having issues but I was careful to compare that when I was trying to decide on new tires. I ended up going with 235/295s knowing that I wasnt going to get full potential as the wheels do need to be wider BUT understanding that I was not getting a net loss from the stock. Stock tires on my Turbo were S02s which I feel that the PS2s are a great improvement on.

Currently I have had 8 track days on my tires (plenty of tread left!) and quite a few miles driving to and from the track so I feel fairly confident when I say I am pretty happy with my choice of tire.

For those of you who do not track, this is a great tire. For those who do, this is a great street/track tire although it obviously does not compare to Pilot Sport Cups and other R compound tires.

I am starting to hit the limit of these tires and will probably go to Pilot Sport Cups after a couple more track days.

BTW it wont throw off the computer, otherwise viperbob will have a lot of explaining to do to his car with his 265/315 combo.

Thanks Tim and Icerbofh.

Tim, most likely I'll just get a 2nd set of wheels and get some cups while keeping the PS Ribs for daily driving, but you never know. I am interested to do one event on these at least to compare them to the Pzeros.

I'll report after mine as well.

Icer, thanks for the advice. I'll keep this in mind when getting new wheels and cups!

I would recommend getting the second set of wheels with Cups for track use, too. As serious as you guys are about this, competition tires are all you'll be satisfied with!! As good as the PS2's are, Cups are still better at track temp ranges.

We'll refund your money as long as they have not been driven on and can be resold as new. Return shipping is at your expense.

I was just kidding. I'm happy with my PS2's. I don't think I can tell the diff between XL and N, nor can anyone else.

If I want to have less understeer, I'll just inflate the fronts a little more than the rear. Works for me.

Damon, I *am* thinking about getting a set of wheels for the track. Now I have to decide how I am going to get those tires to the track

1) new wheels (for track or street use??)
2) tires (sport cups or the new dunlops)

I do not plan on getting a trailer anytime soon so I need a tire that I am going to be able to drive to the track with (at least 1 to 2 hours), drive and drive home with decent wear capabilities. I have heard some stories of PSCs cording or wearing out after only a few days of track time.

I am planning on running 1 to 2 degrees of camber and have heard good things relatively to the Dunlops. My main goal is to move beyond the capabilities of the PS2s at the track but not to wring the last second out of my car (not yet!)

Colin, for understeer, you have it backwards. Your way will give you more understeer.

Icer, ship them there. I've seen several people do that.
Also, if the track's not too far, you can drive the cups there without too much tread loss. I have other friends doing that to our track that's 90 miles away.
