proto tech in florida
anyone have any work done at proto tech in oakland park, fl? wondering how their work is... they are a protomotive dealer
They typically do fairly complex BIG HP stuff. They have done alot of Aircooled P-cars
in the past and recently did a Twin Turbo Gallardo (of which Todd Knighton did the
ECU work for).
I would contact them and go for a visit, as like anyone, see if they are on the same
page for what you want to accomplish.
good luck,
Marty

Unless you have your heart set on having it done locally, Todd can do it. You won't even have to leave your house. You just tell him what upgrades you have on your car, download your ECU via the provided OBD2 cable and software, and he will email you the software. You then install it via an OBD2 cable and your done. You do need a laptop computer though (unless you setup your PC in your garage).

first flash is $3000... but it then gets you "into the inner circle" and upgrades
are very cheap. Todd is not cheap but he changes way more parameters than anyone else. If you only do a flash, period and you are done for 5 years, he may not be your guy. He is my guy.

Thanks for the info.
Now how does it work - if you do the flash first as your first upgrade - and then down the road you do the intake and exhaust etc...
Does the ECU need to be reflashed again?
And if so - is there added costs etc?

If an upgraded tune is required, it's only $300. Even if you change from a k16 tune to a k24/18g tune, it's only $300. Like Marty said, once the initial $3,000 is paid, you truly are in "the inner circle" haha. Not to mention, Todd can tune anything, so even if you decide to go to a one-off custom setup, he can tune it!!
For $3K you get a lot more then just a flash.... something that most other "tuners" do not offer... they just sell flashes...
In the end.. you get what you pay for ...
Had I known back then what I know now I would have saved at least $20K...
