Question Extended Warranty

My 2001 TT factory warranty is about to expire and I'm looking to purchase extended warranty. Any suggestion on a good company? Good response time on repairs?

i've heard its very difficult for coverage by an independant co. however, if you are on good terms with a local dealer they may do a quick buyback and sell it to you and you'll get a 2 year up to 100k warranty. I've not done this but have heard of these things happening.

I was told that we could always buy extended warranty as long as the factory warranty has not expired. Isn't this true?

That's what they told me when I bought 2001 with about a year of warranty left.

My experience with extended warranties is that 'they' (factory sponsored or not) go out of their way to declare that it was "driver error" that cause the problem and coverage is denied.

Chain tensioner quit- "sorry you over-rev'd- denied".

Transmission shifting funny- " sorry you didn't use Moby's albino whale oil every three months-denied".

SCCA sticker- "sorry you've been racing-denied".

It seems you have to be ready to fight for it even though it cost you good money to get it.

YMMV

Regards
BD

I am also looking for a good extended warrantly. I have heard good things about warrantech. They allow repairs without disallowances based on a huge list of "wear and tear" items. At least thats what my dealer has suggested.

I actually had pretty good experience with Western General when I had my 1999 996 but the adjuster took a long time to inspect and approve the repairs. I am now checking with them and see how things will turn out.

Western General was the other company that my dealer recommended. You got the number? I think I will check them out as well. Thanks.
