2nd trip to the 1/4 tonight
2nd trip to the 1/4 tonight
Went to the track for the 2nd time tonight with the car. Best pass was a 12.0@118, and a best trap of 119mph. The car only has a flash from Tony at EPL. I'm still trying to figure out the best launch technique in the car, and I've yet to find a happy median. Best 60' tonight was a 1.87, which is pretty pathetic. These cars are pretty tricky to launch. I wonder if taking off the clutch assist stuff would help with being able to modulate the clutch a little better off the line. I think my divertors are toast to, as every shift boost would fall off, and take what seemed like forever to re-spool. I think with just some divertors the car would pick up a good 2-3 mph, if not more!!
Hopefully I'll get the new turbos on the car soon, and hope to make it into the 10's sometime this year.

Tim,
Congrats and realize that these are very tricky to launch. The more power you have
the trickier they become. I believe you are on the right track for better clutch modulation but it will still only be negligibly better. Your time is actually pretty good for just a flash...think about it, a 12 flat street car with only ECU tuning!!
Good luck, we appreciate you new "Supra Guys" giving us feedback and knowledge.
Congrats to Tony for another great running car!

1.87 is nothing to laugh at...but can be improved. Congrats on the runs. A 12 sec car is a quick car nevermind.... But lets get yu to better everything.. First off..where you shifting?? and on what gear??
Then, are you riding the clutch out? or dumping it? RPMS?
and finally tire pressures? Gas? And did you eat your wheaties this morning??? lol...
Let me know... we will see...

I hope to get it down better the next time at the track.
Now go out and get your 10 sec. slip before I do!!
Tim
Get the car pressure tested from the TURBOS... not the throttle body.... all the leaks will show up including failing DVS... I did and both of mine were bad.... yet I never knew...

I shift out of 1st gear at around 6500, and the rest of the gears around 6000 or a little earlier to try and stay in the powerband better. The stock turbos seem to die around 6000 rpm's it feels like.
I try to launch around 3500-4000 rpm with a quick slip. Theres a fine line between bog and spin with this car, and if it spins it will start to wheelhop, and then I have to let out and get back in it.
I've yet to adjust tire pressures, but I may try that next time. I run 93 octane pump, but I will be installing a meth. kit once I get the new turbos from Tony at EPL.

Thanks Tony. I just got one of my sets of 24's, and I will be sending them out to you Monday for the conversion. Can you go ahead and send out my "care package" so I can get those installed before the turbos.
Thanks, Tim
BTW-I will be in Florida July 12th-19th. I plan to go to the Manheim auction that Tuesday, so if you're free, let me know so we can meet up. I'd really like to check out that Tilton, as I know I'll be in the market soon for a clutch when I put the new turbos on!!
Tim
Yep, I'm enjoying it so far!! Just needs another 150-200hp more!!
