TT exhaust vice GT2/X50 exhaust

What is the differance between these two exhaust systems? I have a TT that I put the K24 's and GT2 intercoolers on. Was wondering if the GT2/X50 exhaust would give more power and sound? Thanks for your comments!

i think they're either exactly the same or almost exactly the same.

What programming are you using? You need an aftermarket exhaust to get the most out of that setup.

Right now I'm not using an upgraded ECU but leaning towards Upsolute. I have a Fabspeed moderate exhaust on it right now but HATE it because of the resonance in the car. I'm putting my stock exhaust back on this weekend. I would like a little more sound but I can't handle the headache machine I have now.

Are you saying the stock TT exhaust is the same as the GT2/X50?

yes. it is either the same, or basically the same. maybe try the AWE or Europipe exhausts, they are quieter than the Fabspeed.

From what I understand, I thought they were slightly different. I hear that they have different part numbers also. I bought an X50 exhaust from a board member, and am just waiting til it gets here. I have asked this question about the differences also, and the general consensus was that they do sound different.

I think I read somewhere that newer TT's came with the same exhaust as the X50/GT2.

I'm not sure when that "change" occured though.

I believe that the part number for the GT2 exhaust is different than the standard TT exhaust, and I think it is just a little louder.

Although I have no idea what the precise difference is, the x50 exhaust is different from the standard TT exhaust: see Porsche Press Release re: X50 Power Kit ("The Porsche engineers have managed to achieve this improvement in power and performance by making modifications, which primarily affect the turbocharger, charge cooler, controllers and exhaust system.").

Gunther, I have heard the X50/GT2 are slightly louder and i guess a little more more hp than the tt exhaust. I have heard a gt2 and it does not seem that much louder. I would go for a europipe quiet or loud if you hate the fabspeed resonance but still want nice sounds and power. Dan

A person on Rennlist disected an X50 exhaust and a GT2 exhaust and found no differences. And the standard X50 exhaust is quite loud... X50 cars sound like they have aftermarket exhausts to me.

I had a standard 01 TT and an 02 X50 and the X50 exhaust was definetely louder. They both use 400 cell cats so I doubt there would be any HP gains.

The increased loudness of an X50 is probably because the turbo is less restrictive on the hot side.

Maybe but I think it's tuned for a throatier sound and it has a different part number.
