Whichever linkage you choose, It's worth the time to change it when you've got the shifter apart.

Need i say more?

Ya, what are you getting at? Did your shift linkage break? According to some guys on Renntech its a waste of money.

I absolutely hate my B&M, and YES I've had it reset by an Indy who sells and installes them. Hate it... I'll be going to a Cup Car shifter/cables once I get the suspension issues resolved.

Yes,

My factory linkage broke and the linkage dropped off the ball on the bottom of the shifter. It was one of the white plastic tabs that broke.

My Indy says that SSKs put more stress on the linkage than factory shifters and he has seen many break after a SSK install. He recommends the part from Bumper Plugs (can't remember the brand) or the Agency Power link.

I have heard of this one other time...the only problem is the area where the "break" occurs is made of the same material on all of the linkages (please see the link to the comparisons done by tool pants previously posted). It is a type of plastic...so while the rest of the thing looks gnarly...the functional part is the same.

930Man has it installed on his GT2 and I got to "test" shift it with it sitting in the garage at VIR. It felt real good. I think Matt was very happy with it!

My B&M is slow into 2nd. Maybe I need to have it 'reset'??? My C4S had the same kit and it was much better feeling...?

I am considering trying the 997 shifter but like the shortness of my current setup. I just want it to feel 'right'...

You're welcome to get a feel on mine first before you swap to a 997 shifter. I just installed the 997 shifter after removing the B&M as I mentioned earlier in this post. My guess is you'll decide to keep the B&M after feeling the 997.

Don't they have a factory Porsche 997 "Short Shifter Kit" .Not just the 997 shifter? If so, what is the verdict on that one?

Good question??? What's the current hot ticket. I like my B&M, but it's not perfect...

Yes, but its very similar in feel to the B&M, notchy. To my knowledge the 997 GT series shifters are shorter than the standard 7 shifter but not as short as the B&M or Factory SSK.

The 997 GT3 shifter. Its a bit longer than the B&M but much smoother.

Hmmm, I'm going to have to try one of these bad boys out... Luckily a friend has a 997 GT3 handy!
