New 996 Turbo w/ X50 owner

Hi,

I just bought an 03 X50 and have been looking around to know more about upgrades. Unfortunately, I haven't seen any "simple" upgrade recommendations. I'm looking for a simple 100 extra HP. What are my options? I went to several web sites that are mentioned on the sponsor side but many of them didn't have any solid information like other car tuners do, ie: stage 1, stage 2, etc.

I understand that the X50 has the K24 turbos so a turbo upgrade is not necessary for what I am looking for.. I guess I need an ECU reprogram, DV and exhaust?

I looked into the FAQs and found the ECU page but nothing putting together kits.

Any advice is appreciated..

Just for comparison, my BMW 335 got 100HP just from an ECU upgrade, so I figure the 996 should be similar?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum I'm sure that you will get plenty of help here. Just remember there is no free lunch and 100 hp is not always so simple. Good luck on your quest.

Probably have to add in clutch to the above. Just call any of the tuners for advice. Personally, I went with UMW and found that kevin's advice was spot on.

Have Todd at Protomotive re-work your K24's.

Congrats on our new car! Please post pics.

I have a 335i with Procede V3 and am planning on trading my car for a 996 tt. Just wondering how much of a power difference do you see in your x50 tt car when compared to tuned 335i..please share your thoughts. I know the 996 tt is a vastly superior sports car and would like to know the scale of performance increment i can expect.

Congrats and happy motoring. I would start by reading all the posts about turbos and ECU upgrades. That's a good place to start.

Welcome and congrats!

You can get an honest, reliable 580-600 HP car (~ 500 at the wheels) with a flash, wastegate upgrade and exhaust. Intake optional, diverter valves (blow off valves if you know turbos) required even if stock.

See my dyno graph below. It's a mostly stock car with basic performance upgrades 91 octane.

Wastegate upgrade is the most overlooked K24 upgrade that really helps.

+1...odd comparison but within 10k of each other.

Flash, Diverter, Exhaust, Intake should net the HP you are looking for.
