Anyone in Houston or surrounding cities know of this car and it's history? It states thousands in motor upgrades.

Ed,

All I can offer is the same as the above poster. I've heard questionable things about Global and can't be sure if they were just one off occurences or a trend. I would go and check the vehicle out closely. They are located in Stafford pretty close to my office actually. Let me know and I can meet you over there. What are they claiming as far as motor upgrades?

Ben,

Thanks for the offer of helping me check out the car. Much appreciated. The more I think about it, I don't want to get into a turbo that's outside of warranty unless I plan to spend $$ on upgrading turbos and other things. I'll keep my search on CPO'd turbos.

How's yours coming along?

Edwin

Are you really sure a CPO will give you what you think it does? Many of the folks here with CPOs get very surprised when things go wrong- coverage is quite limited- and most diabolically you MUST have all 'exploratory' work done by the dealer BEFORE you know cost and coverage.

While the same may be true at an indy, at least you have a prayer.

The other point is that the mechanics work for the underwriter- they have a vested interest in discovering any possible issue to avoid payment- even issues that were the fault of prior owners and missed by the CPOing dealer!

My 2 cents.

Read the actual CPO coverage.

Good luck

ard speaks the truth. I found a CPO car based on the idea that I might want to resell within the two years. I doubt I will at this point but who knows. CPO is very unclear about the boundaries of coverage.

Ard,

Thanks for the words of wisdom. The way I see it, if I get a good deal on a turbo that has a CPO, it's better than nothing. You're' right though, I will need to read the CPO contract very carefully.

Ben,

Interesting... so if you were to do it over again, would you not go with CPO?

No, I would .... but as with most things appearances can be deceiving. Things aren't always as they seem with CPO. Get a good PPI done on the car prior to purchase and you'll be good to go.

Ed,

Tommy's car is really really clean. You definitely need to check this one out. It made me second guess whether getting silver was the right choice when I saw it.

Ben.

Thanks Ben. Hopefully I'll be able to cruise with the local P car guys in the near future instead of with my 66 mini

I was told by the dealer that all of the performance work was done here http://www.sgpracing.com/

Take a look at the fine collection of cars that they work on there.
