Real world differences between GT 3076 and GT 3071

Please discuss. What type of tune should I ask Todd to do on a stock motor.

I am installing the GT 3076 w/ I believe the .63A/R.

It is my understanding that I should not run more than 1 bar on pump (93 here in Tx) but can run up to 1.5 on C 16 (am leery about going over 1.4 on stock botom end, however).

Just ask Todd, he's done most of the combos. Neither of us were all that impressed with my .63 A/R and changed to a .82 a couple weeks later. You can run 1.0 - 1.1 bar and make a true 560-580 whp all day long on pump and turn it up to make high 600's safely at 1.5. It's a great turbo for these motors.

$150 a unit and a few bolts.... but you dont need them...
these turbos as they stand will produce 840 rwhp with .63 A/Rs..

Hmmm, maybe with a lot of headwork and other mods, but we leaned on them pretty hard at 1.5 and barely cracked 650.

Jamie,

Didnt you also feel that the smaller A/R was almost "too responsive" ??
(maybe I am not using the correct descriptive words)

Yes of course... I just said that that's what they are good for...
But then isn't that 997tt that put down 860 rwhp at 1.65 bars on a stock head?
I believe he has gt3076rs with the .82s...

you can get 650 rwhp on simple K24/20gs at 1.5 bars... no water lines, direct fit...

Sure, maybe on other cars, but I've never seen a graph make 800+ on just .62 ar. Kim did make around 800 on .82's on a 997, but I doubt you could replicate that on a 996. And Kim made 860 on 35's.

Well Scott made 840 or something on .82s @1.42 bars... with all things being equal lets say 800 rwhp due to dyno differences... the .63s will be 40 whp short...
So it is up there if you let it...
My original point was that for a stock motor 3076r with .63s are more then enough....

....
830/780 at 1.41 BAR on Todd's dyno...but then I ran out of turbo. All I got with more boost was more torque. I think they were pretty much maxed out by that point.

I loved 'em, though. They actually made more power at 1.4 BAR than my 35's do....but I didn't want my overall HP to be limited by my turbos.

I made 580 on pump on my GT 28's in cool weather so I expect to get more (600) from the 30's.

I have been told that I will make close to 680 on the GT 30's on C 16 which is as far as I will go on a stock motor. I take that the .63's spool faster, yes?

Sean,

If I were you, I'd run 76Rs with .82 A/R. Your car will run 60-130's in the 5's.

Sean the smaller the a/r on the hot side the quicker the spool and the less top end (all other things equal).

True Scott but the 3076 .63 seems to be the best overall balance (I may still track once a year) and will lesson my worry about my motor.

When are you coming back to Houston? I am going to take you on Sean's special "married not dead" tour.

True. And you'll run 5's with the .63s as well. But I just like big power up top....so I'd personally go with the .82s

I'm hoping to make to TX2K9, but I think I'll still be deployed. I plan on attending everyone each year after that, so we'll be able to attend a more a few tours together.
