2009 Supra Concept at The Ring
I think they said it was suppose to have more 620 to the wheels for sure. And this will deflty be the GTRs direct competition but the only thing that disrupts that is its 120 thousand dollar price tag. Most of the GTRs being sold are going for no more than 80 to 90 grand. But yes man I totaly agree with on Bring back the Supra. All they would have to do is a couple body modifications make the lines sharper kind of what GM did with the C6. Because the lines of the Supra and body still today are beatiful.
I own a prius and personally i don't care what it does for the environment, nor do i care if it's clean - it gets 50mpg without a problem, and i don't have to worry when it's parked somewhere, and personally that's all i do care about
So don't generalize us hybrid drivers (there are many other prius owners on this forum along with other hybrid drivers) saying, we are a joke...

People buy the prius for the recognition.
The people who keep raving about full electric cars are the worst though. They act like they dont pay electric bills, when $/kwh of electricity is more than double that of gasoline when converted to $/gal.
Toyota is too conservative for their own good. Sure they sell a lot of good appliances, but their cars have no emotion left in them. They're still wondering how they got their *** handed to them with the Tundra.
Toyota owned the Supra / SC300 formula until the Japanese let the E46 M3 take the combined Rx7 / 300 ZX / Supra market share in one swoop. And what a damn good car that is! Notice how many 350Zs Nissan has sold in the void since the comeback in 03? They backed it up with the G35 sedan and coupe and it was a whole new ballgame. Took Nissan right out of bankruptcy.

Obviously you bought it for money savings then right? Yet you paid about 10k more for it than you would have for a honda fit, which is a much more fun car to drive, cheaper and gets basically the same mpg.

1.) LF-A has been delayed yet again. Where did you hear 620hp at the wheels?
2.) Toyota has cancelled the Supra, and will now concentrate on building can-openers on wheels. They even cancelled the FJ Cruiser. No big deal to some, but I planned on getting one in the next 1-2 years. F-you Toyota. There's 40K you'll never get out of me. But honestly, who gives a s..t about me; there will now be a whole generation(or more) of [Toyota]Supra fans who now won't get to see their dreams realized. It was all about the MPG huh Toyota? I guess even GM can make a 505hp ZO6 Corvette get 30 MPG on the highway, but cancel the Supra(hybrid) to appease the greenies? Or maybe Toyota knows more than the rest of us...
3.) The only car makers with enough ***** left in this eco-gone-insane world that are openly challenging the environmentalists are Bugatti, Lamborghini and Porsche(barely). Not that they are the only ones protesting higher CAFE/CO2 standards, but they are openly telling the world they will not build something that doesn't represent what their customers want. Of course, does anyone believe Porsche will ever deliver a 950hp GT1 that so many were hoping for such a short time ago? Porsche seems hell-bent on producing as many SUV's & 4-door Panameras as the market will bear. Koenigsegg even wants to build a 4-door! Ferrari? Going Hybrid. The world sure has changed from just a year ago...
4.) Thank your neighbors and every single Politician in both the US & EU. They will be responsible for the demise of the performance car as we know it.

Not surprising, just about car maker is either working on them, going to start soon, or are going to be in trouble when the MPG regulations come in effect in 2020 i believe
ha, yep
ha, yep
Thats a Lexus LF-A, its not a supra replacement. It has a 5.0L V10, explained the high pitch " Formular one" sound. Here is a better one

While I agree that this thread is out of place in the 996 forum, I was reluctant to create another thread in the Concept section due to the fact I'm beginning to feel like the "Spectre of Doom" around here...
Oh, and the reason for this post is to confirm my earlier post.
Todays casualty: the BMW M3 CSL. RIP.

Article follows:

BMW has shelved plans to produce a lighter and sharper CSL version of the E92 M3. CAR’s artist’s impression reveals how the rawest M3 of all was scheduled to look – with an arrival date of summer 2009.
The M3 CSL was supposed to have power uprated to between 450bhp and 470bhp with a corresponding drop in weight, down by 100kg thanks to wider use of flyweight materials. Cup tyres, new engine breathing and a carbonfibre airbox were due to complete the makeover.
But the bean counters at Munich have now canned the project, so they can concentrate on the faster versions of the company’s X-badged crossovers.
The M boss speaks
Ludwig Willisch, the new M Division boss, said: ‘Based on current numbers, there is most likely insufficient demand for the M3 CSL.’
For the full story on the death of the M3 CSL – and its nemesis from Audi, the planned RS5 – buy the new October 2008 issue of CAR Magazine, on sale on Wednesday 27 August 2008. Click here for a full guided tour.

Well the supra in the video looks great and sounds great. The picture of the supra in the cancelled link shows it to be as ugly as the GTR. So maybe the cancelled the ugly one and are bringing out the nice one. Either way, I hope that the nice one does come out as it looks like an Aston Martin Vantage or db9 and half the price and 10 times the reliability.
However, I do agree that this should be on the other forum. It seems we are the dumping ground for all other makes. Maybe because this is the most active forum?
