i have an 01 turbo with about 9000 miles on it now, when i am cruising on the highway with my RPM floating around 3000 rpm or 3400 rpm with maybe 10-20% throttle the car would misfire/hesitate..

However it does not have any signs of this hesitation when i am on the throttle and just revving the gear out.

Any idea what this might be?

I have no idea but my 01' does the same thing. If you find anything out please let me know.

 

Are you modified or stock?

 

Should be MAF , try to clean it

I got misfire too, problem was loose spark plugs.

 

after re-reading your symptoms I agree with ard...variocam

 

could be maf, plugs, coilpacks...

 

Variocam?

Pretty sure there is something that switches over or engages around 3100 that causes the feeling of a stumble. No codes, right?

Previously I'd heard this attributed to the variocam- mine was doing it before new plugs, and after.

Edit: Never heard it here, rather over on Rennlist it was kind of a "over course it is the variocam' response...

and i have new spark plugs and a new maf ..

 

When you have the misfire/hesitations do you get a CEL code? If so what were they?

 

Change the plugs, Check and change coils packs if needed ,try the car..Still same

Change the MAF and be happy

yes, completely normal - it's the variocam...like ard and Dr. T have said.

 

Is it normal to get misfire codes due to the variocam issue? Is this something that requires repair or something that you can just live with?
