What would a bad turbo do?
I've been told by a mechanic who hasn't looked at my car yet but has raced and worked on many car s that he is sure I don't have a leak causing my loss in boost. Got me to thinking, what would happen if one of my turbos was bad? Would that result in half the boost, which is my problem? Shouldn't some kind of light come on if that happened? TIA

A bad turbo is one of the most difficult parts to troubleshoot, out side of the ordinary things to go wrong with a turbo such as bearings, seals, etc.
All it takes is a micro amount of misalignment or a tweaked impellor to make a major drop in power from my experience. It will still run well enough, but will be down on power. I have had similar experiences with brand new turbos out of the box.
Did you ever confirm if you still have the Hybrid turbos? I remember we had a discussion about the mods on your car after you had purchased it.

CJV, I wouldn't think 0.9-1.0 on rare occassion would fit your definition of consistantly running overboost, considering the set-up. I know similar type set-ups that run higher without problems.

I've had an experience where the turbos would boost fine on the gauge 1.0-1.2 and the HP would be fine and would pull to redline easily but the torque was not there. The turbos were in a cavitation mode. For the most part it would feel very fast due to the quick spool up but lagged torque through the mid and top end. The turbos were boosting fine as far as intake pressure, but they were not flowing enough volume of air needed to increase torque. The funny thing is most people that have this set up probably won't even notice this.

Take the GT2 with the K24's. I am going by memory, but I believe they are designed for 155,000 or 165,000 rpm's. That is the maxium rpm the impeller is designed to turn. They are also designed to go into over boost which would be to spin or produce another 10,000 rpm's. However, they are not designed to run at this rpm for more than ten contineuous seconds.
