Nissan's fake claim at the "RING"
Again, NOT TRUE. Who are you going to TELL?
Come on man, get real. Everything done in the car is recorded on the various computers. What I was told by a rep at Nissan NA was that the car would not be governed like other manufacturers and was built to be driven by enthusiasts on closed road courses. The limits are expected to be explored in a controlled environment and no concern should be given as long as the factory maintenance schedule is followed per the owner's manual. Beyond that, there was no "Call this hotline and advise them when and where you are tracking your GT-R".

I tend to agree with the first point, I dont care how fast the GTR is supposed to be or how much cheaper it is, it's still piggin' ugly... Plus most people who buy either of these cars have neither the talent nor ability to drive them anywhere near 100% of there capabilities, so all it comes down to is bragging rights down the pub!

So you were right in a way.
Here is a guy who's drive train warranty was voided for turning off the nannies. It's funny because they'll have best motoring do comparisons with the car being faster with VDC off, and then they'll void the warranty if you actually do it..

There are 3 or so in this thread alone. So if you want to drive the car to the results the mags get, you risk voiding the Warranty because the car is fastest with the VDC off.
Nissan is fudging, and misleading people, by way of the media, many of these guys had no idea what they were getting into, and why???? Because they see the mags doing claimed 3.0 0-60's and beating CGT's, but when you try to do either in real life, you get pwned.

To be honest it means nothing. I dont care if the GT-R is the fastest car at th ring or not. If I was buying a car this would have ZERO impact on my decision. People get all caught up in these numbers when the really mean nothing. You buy a GT-R or a 997 TT because that is the car YOU like not because of stupid lap time and the "ring". I dont think is such a big deal at all.
Here's where it comes down to people knowing what they're buying...It's an $80K "super"car  with all these restrictions on it. You MUST follow the inspections requirements. This is what I really love:
Super Expensive Brakes
Track Alignment required that will not work for street use (if you want to be fast)
Tranny Heat issues
Mandatory inspections at very short intervals
This car is not a Porsche. You can't use it as we do with our 996TTs, and it will never be as durable. It is just like the C6Z06, a "bargain" car that is quick for a short period of time. The durability issues will not go away when you're talking the difference being $60K in build quality!
What's that phrase about lipstick and a pig?

Well if you troll NAGTROC, you'll notice that of the guys who have the ***** to come forward and post, there are problems creeping up with the tranny, as we expected (Real failures internally) and other problems associated with the usual electrical gremlins. I think we're going to see a LOT of first time owners RUN away from this car... I blame Nissan. They painted an inaccurate picture of the "production" version of this car.
