broken trans mount

I have two broken the rubber trans mounts and was wondering if anyone has a recommended upgrade? The shop I use has offered to make solid mounts out of Derilin for me. I'm just not sure if this will then require me to switch the motor mounts as well?

Also what have people been paying to get them replaced?

The current 997 product is an improvement over the ones that we had in our cars.
It is used in the 997 turbo and 997GT3. I bought it directly from my P dealer
(or Suncoast).

No one has ever broken a trans mount??? How about a little help here.

Gunther, A number of people have. They just don't know it yet. I plan to upgrade mine, along with the motor mounts, over the winter... See you Saturday.

my tiptronic had a broken tranny mount, it was replaced with a factory part. no problems so far ( 6 months)

They are some kind of poly which is MUCH stiffer and firmer than the original.
Like I said, they are in the new 997 GT3 and 997 GT2 and turbo.

how do u know when you tranny mount is broken ?
would you experience a clunking sound when on and off the gas, or when shifting gears ?

I've seen it from putting cars up in the air!

When your bushings in the motor and tranny mounts get worn, you'll eventually notice that your exhaust tips get pushed around by the body panel and will be pointing down, or you'll see marks on the metal trim ring on the rear bumper exhaust cutouts.

What's the expected labor time on something like this? Cost at Suncoast?

When I was doing an oil change I poped the underbody panel off just to look for loose stuff. What I found was one trans mount bolt almost all the way out. When I went to tighten it up I saw that the rubber was torn. The other side had the bolt all the way in but the rubber mount was also torn.

Unless you take off the underbody panel and look you will never know.

i have broken 2 stock ones, im going delerin now and change out my Rs motormounts to wevo now

You going with the WEVO blue or WEVO Blacks? I'm thinking I'm going to go with the Blue, but I'd like to get some feedback from those who've done both... The blacks are stiffer than factory but not as solid as the Blues.
