I feel that the EBC caused the engine failure... if not directly... then indirectly by the removal of the built in safety feature of the factory solenoid. I would NEVER again install one on anything thing I owned as it was costly mistake... just my 2 pennies/16K!

 

Amen. I thought the same, at the beginning... and saw when you sold it shortly after the rebuild began! (1.6 million cents)

I originally purchased the kit from Titan Motorsports with the upgraded 1 bar wastegates therefor I had reservations about the EBC even prior to installing it. Sometimes we should listen to our gut feelings! Dan from Vivid Racing sells the same kit without the EBC and says with the 1 bar wastegates no EBC is needed. If you ride the edge you need a degree in rocket science... ie: air to fuel ratios etc. I just want to jump in my car on pump gas and jump on it once in a while with the confidence of knowing I'm not going to hurt it.

Look forward to hearing the outcome of the dead unit. Could you any Deto related pitting in the top of the pistons when looking down the plug hole with a torch?

Hopefully a rod didn't punch through the cases if that's what let go?

so are you putting ina stock used motor? or building a built bottom end motor?
