that wouldn't surprise me. Shorter shift means less time for boost to go away. Can't wait to install mine

If you do this now you can assess the effect independent of the clutch upgrades. Anyway, that's all work underneath the car

true, well, my carbon backed GT3 style seats are coming as well, so the car will be in literal pieces in about 3-4 weeks. It will be nice to see how all the little upgrades add up to improve the car. Maybe I'll do the shifter this weekend

OCTurbo is infamous around these parts
just for clarification- is the standard shifter on the 997TT the same as the 997 shifter that is being discussed here? I just drove a 2008 997tt and i think the biggest improvement of this car over a 996tt is the shifter.

Edit to my last post. It turns out the the 2008 997TT that i drove last week has the factory sport shift option. The shifting was smooth, more precise and shorter than the stock 996tt. Now i'm also confused as to why people are going with the regular 997 shifter as opposed to this one. Is the 997 short (sport) shifter also an easy and direct replacement for the 996tt unit?
thanks

Ok there seems to be confusion here. I believe the stock 997 shifter is ~$160 and the factory short shifter for the 997 is ~$350. My only question is the 997 short shifter an easy install and smooth? IE better than the factory 996 factory short shifter? Thanks!

Read back several pages I think this was hit on already. People preferred the std 997 shifter on the 996 as it provided a shorter and smoother shift. Not as short as the ssk but people were happier with it on the the 996 than the ssk.

Yes, I think everyone here is talking about the REGULAR 997 shifter. Most who do it, myself included, feel that it is so superior in feel and function, a short throw is unnecessary. I changed from a short throw B&M to this REGULAR 997 shifter. I bought mine in February from Sunset Porsche in Beaverton, Oregon.

PH# - (800)-346-3090

Part number : 997-424-010-00

$161.62 + $15.25 = $176.87 to my door. Have NO interste in a short throw shifter now.

Good Luck...
