is this anyone in here
I've run into a number of them... And not to "toot" my own horn, but I can hold my own with many GT3 HPDE drivers. There are guys like Rmag who would give me a hard time, as he drives very consistant and is very quick. There are others who we track with who frequent the board here who are learning still. I also have a bunch of laps at VIR, so although I'm not running Matt Callahan times, I view my current status as somewhere between intermediate and advanced, kinda starting to be able to "apply" what they teach in class, and what I read in racing books.
That car in that video is a GT3 street car that was converted into a track car. I eventually tracked him down online and we chatted quite a bit. It doesn't have a sequential gearbox, but does have a bunch of work done to it and the car is about 2700#. I knew I could keep pace with him at VIR since i was pacing him at summit point with a fair amount of ease.
If you want to transform your 996TT, Dump coin into the suspension and brakes. That will make the car much more formidable. My car went from a 2:10 at VIR end of the weekend timed car to a 2:10 out of the trailer on the first "warm up" session. Get camber into the suspension, and get the car lower. Do a search here on suspension. You will see what worked for me...

makes sense.
the reason I wonder is because I remember mikelly's video of him chasing what appeared to be a gt3 cup car, and that cup car could not pull on him. I know the mikes TT has a well modded suspension and the power is definitely there, however, that is a lightweight cup car and even with all the traffic could not get away.

Mike have you run into other gt3's at vir? and how did they do?

This is obviously some kind of fast and loose DE with no point byes and open passing. The turbo's line was fine, albeit a little conservative. But who cares it's a DE. The turbo gave up a little to the GT3 in the turns but walked him on the straights. If this Gt3 could have passed the turbo he would have, but he just didn't have the power to make it happen.

Finally got it to go, nice video. Monza is a great track, that is an open 'lapping day', there are no corner workers, no passing signals, etc, if you can pass, you pass, if you can't you don't. The turbo driver misses the mark on several turns and gets caught in traffic, then the afterburners kick in! If not for that the gt3 wouldn't even be close imo. That turbo is very fast, def not stock.

yup that is what it looked like to me. The turbo had some poor lines but made up for it on the straights and out of the turns.
