Also oiled down the tires!Had a fun time getting that baby stabilized. First and only non German car I ever drove in ORR. Definitely the last. Actually a fun car but for sure, not my thing.

R
wasn't it a modified motor then? I don't think it'd be fair to call it a POS w/ reliability issues if that was the case. **** let's go sometimes. I know you've been doing ORR for some time now. I'm pretty sure the viper isn't the first car to let go on the track.

If the motor hadn't blown what would your impressions of been?

I've had 2 Vipers...a '97 GTS and a '03 SRT-10. The reliability is as good as the Porsche. In fact, I've had more problems with 2 of my 3 996TTs than I did with either of my Vipers. The Viper runs circles around the 996TT stock to stock. The acceleration, handling, and braking are no comparison. They are so differernt that a comparison isn't really fair. All of you that speculate without actual knowledge of having owned both need to get some education before stating "facts". The looks are subjective, but you can't argue with the superior performance at 2/3 the price. I am definitely in on the next GTS.

Can't swap, SRT is going in for Built Motor & TT conversion in a couple of weeks. But definately want a blue coupe! I wished it looked more like that competition coupe at the car show 3 eyars ago, but this will do.

The hate factor here is huge. Did anyone state that a Viper is better than a Turbo? I have owned both (2005 SRT-10 inbound). The level of refinement that a Porsche has is unparalled. The Viper is the kind of can you take out, scare the **** out of yourself, and put it back in the garage until next weekend. The Porsche gives drivers light on talent, a false sence of confidence. The Viper reminds you of your talent level on a regular basis. Both are amazing machines.

it would be totally rude to post "anti-viper" type comments on a thread where someone posts their purchase of a viper.

it's gotten to the point that you can't even make a negative comment about any car any time now.

i guess if you are a car enthusiast it is mandatory to like every car, every maker, every model, at every price range.

Negative comments are fine, if based on fact or experience. But all to often, the people who pose these negative comments seem to be using their *** rather than their brain to compose them. It seems that the minds of many here are closed to the joy of driving what other manufacturers have to offer. I am only trying to let people know (based on experience) that it happens to be a great vehicle.

I agree with you, the Viper is a great car (I personally wouldn't compare it to a Porsche though) ... I also think it looks killer in black, saw one the other day and it looked about as mean as I've ever seen a car

but I can see how some don't like it too.

As ive said before, show me a Porsche running the kinds of power that my supposed Italian trash is running for aslong as its been running it, with the maintenece costs ive had.. Good luck to you, and remember to emblazen the look of any Vipers rear-end, its all any Porsche will ever see.

This car was slammed together really quick to make it to the showoff they had set for it. They are going to redo alot of the body parts to make the lines cleaner (you can see gaps between certain areas)

Rumor has it 600ish HP.

Or one could brain-wash oneself into thinking your personal car is the end all of end all.

There is merit in all cars, but the Porsche and Viper relationship is a very close one, and the Viper has the edge, looks are subjective, but the Viper excells in acceleration, handling, braking, reliability, price and resale value. Simple bolt on low boost supercharger on a Viper, and it will destroy any stage 4-5-10 whatever 996TT, and still be a daily driveable reliable car. If your looking to standout in a crowd the Viper also handily beats the Porsche. Interior quality, inmo, is about the same in both, they both use cheap plastics. Value for dollar, Viper wins.
