Well... obviously Shank thinks the Viper is better than his Turbo... for his purposes, I could see why... Viper is easier to mod for drag racing, which is one of the things he likes to do.

However, I seriously doubt you will see him trading in his GT2 for a Viper. Geez... I wonder why

Scott is right, my post was way too negative. Actuall I enjoyed the Viper, at speed it squats and grabs. Felt tight and didn't hunt when riding the road crown.Throttle steer was FUN. The V-10 sounds really cool, I didn't need to glance at the tach, always knew where I was in the RPM band. Definitely a "drivers" car. I like what Shank is doing and I may do it too. Twin turbo Viper would be a great ORR car. BTW, the factory took care of the blown engine for my friend.

Cheers

P.S.
Met the Sharkster today in Ventura and he promises to do a Nevada event next season. Swears he will bring CJV also.

Wow, bad @ss!

I pass on the side exhausts though. I wish they would change it back to the rear.

When I first purchased my 996TT, I was looking at a Viper at the same time. I remember reading a magazine report that said something like:

The Porsche is a ballerina compared to the WWF brute force of the Viper. In all areas, what the Porsche completes with refinement and poise, the Viper completes with brute force.

This is of course, a paraphrase... but it sticks in my mind everytime I see someone try to draw parallels between the two vehicles.

Ultimately, I couldn't get past the plastic cheap feel of the interior of the Viper. But... at half the price of the 996TT, it is very hard to argue that you don't get your money's worth when you purchase a Viper.

I have a feeling Dodge will repeat history. The original blue/white stripped viper gts in its first release in 1996 had side pipes. I think in 1997 or 98 and above, they switched to rear pipes. The same could be possible for a 2006. Eitherway, I'm really excited to hear that they'll release the GTS.

Just so you know, the SRT-10 Viper comes with an exhaust out the back in Europe.

The car looks pretty decent, but I still prefer the older rounded version more. It will be interesting to see what the performance numbers turn out to be.

StrokedViper is infamous around these parts
Been lurking here for a long time doing my research for my first 996tt. I have a 98 GTS 510cu stroked viper with headers, cam, rockers, etc. I like the 996tt because of the small back seat. I have a wife and a baby and would like to take them on short trips and car shows with me. I keep up with the classifieds here and ebay looking for just the right car. I don't think that will be the exact coupe they will release. I hope it will be more comp coupe like with the rumored 600/600. The SRT 10 vert must be seen in person, it actually looks hot. Don't let Allan get to you guys he actually talks up the 996tt on the other boards. I go by a different screen name on Ferrarichat and before he was banned he had been looking for a 996tt. He does know his cars. It's great to here the 996tt guys give their opinion on the viper, especially since I have one and can't wait to get my hands on a 996tt. Both owners seem to have a lust for mods.

Just my 2 rupes.
