Carbon Trunk lids

was wondering what to look for as far as quality etc. I have seen some that say the rating is for 160 mph. Kinda strange when the hood slopes downward. Anyway, is there anything to look for when looking into these?

GettyDesign.com great quality and good price. Have had mine to 190+ with no problems. if worried you could put hood pins on it.

Tom, thanks for the info. you would think that with the downforce of the sloping nose you would not need hood pins, but maybe I am missing something.

good question, and if the answer is NO, do the factory trunk hinges work on the carbon trunk?

I have uninstalled one from a 996TT, I cannot speak for the brand, but the fitment was terrible, and the customer ultimately just wanted the stock trunk lid put back on. I will try and find out the brand if possible. Does that one reuse the stock struts to hold it open? That was also an issue on the one I took off. Between the latch holding it down, and the struts trying to hold it up, it created an upward bow effect in the middle.

yes, I heard that you might have to replace the stock struts due to it's lighter weight. I remember seeing those for sale as well. but not sure where

TonyTurbo is infamous around these parts
Carbon fiber hood

No problems at speed, stock hinges work fine, you can remove the stock shocks, I just made a pvc tube to hold hood open, saved a few pounds. Tony
