Replace Nav/Radio in 996TT
Im not vivid, but...I replaced the Pioneer with the elcipse for a simple reason, operating it was much more like the nav in my toyota, (Eclipse is made by Fujitsu which also makes the toyota), other than that, they both have pros and cons, the elcipse was a later model so better functionality. The Pioneer had a performance mode where you can capture, speed, acceleration and cornering G's etc, the elclipse doesnt but had better audio, bluetooth and displayed iPod info better IMHO.
Hope this helps.

the 6620 is very nice, easy to use, the video and audio is very good. You cant change the default color of the illuminated buttons (I havent figured it out anyway) but thats the only complaint. I didnt like the Pioneers menu, didnt seem very inherent to me, however their Plasma TV are tops.

I'll add my .02... I just installed the Kenwood DNX8120 and am thoroughly impressed. It's got nav, built-in blue tooth and adapters available for iPod (the interface is amazing and FAST), XM, Sirius and back-up camera. The picture is really good--I've tried a few movies from my iPod and they're really sharp and clear. I don't have any experience with the other units, but I'm really happy with my Kenwood
I couldnt see the back of the changer very well, but there were two black cables coming from the back passenger side of the changer. Would that be where the orange cable would be if it was a MOST?
I am thinking about upgrading to one for my E55. If I was to get one today I believe I would lean to the Kenwood DNX 8120. However, Eclipse will release a new one in April called the AVN 726 E. I think I am going to wait a couple months and see what the new Eclipse is like.
ok...in order to help and clear things out about most,PCM2 is MOST while PCM1 is not.In MOST systems, the data transmitted viceversa from PCM2 and CD changer and amplifier are through fiber optics...THESE DATA ARE ONLY LOW LEVEL AND NOT AMPLIFIED.Speakers are all analogue, using normal cables, not fiber optic...so if somebody has PCM2(most) and replaces subs he will see a two pole cable with analogue signal.Same with the front door and all other speakers...All speakers can be replaced withh others without any most problem...the problems start when PCM2 is replaced...In order todo so you have to replace Cd changer and amplifier as well with conventional units that use RCA low level wires with analogue signal...IF you replace these2(or 3 with CDchanger) units, all are ok...

Something I encountered in changing out my nav/cd in my '01 is that, once the new aftermarket head unit was in place the car's anti-theft disabled the amp as soon as I turned the car off and back on again. The only solution I could figure was that I had to replace the amp with an aftermarket one as well. No huge deal to do that in a non-most system, but it took me FOREVER to figure out that it was the anti-theft that was causing the system to shut down. I did all of the work myself (not trying to be cheap about it - I just enjoy doing the work)- there is probably some type of work-around for those with some more knowledge about car stereo installs, but I couldn't find anything about it in my searches here and on Rennlist and Renntech.
I simply went with the Pioneer fh-p800bt as the replacement head unit, since I didn't feel the need for Nav, or for the ability to play dvd's. In addition, from my research this one had the best sound quality, and it is only about 300.00. I love the sound quality of it - night and day from the factory head unit. The user interface is a bit quirky - sort of an "I-drive" type of control, but it is no biggy after you get used to it.
So - the bottom line is, if you replace the head unit you MAY have to replace the amp as well.
