I'm guessing they do that so they can keep selling those existing 996. Dealers are already having a tough time selling those. But for those of us who already have one...I agree that they should give us some teasers

Definitely VERY annoying! I can understand with the turbo as they have on occassion gone several years with no turbo. I also understand it with very low production models, that may skip a year here and there. But, with the garden variety 911... what's the point? Why not let us know what's coming and when?

When I bought my first Porsche, I did a reasonable amount of checking. Ended up buying a 924. As soon as I signed the contract, they rolled a brand new 944 out of the back. I wanted to puke.

Chris Y. is right - they can't afford to show us the new model because they run the risk of people waiting to buy the latest and greatest.

Ken, that 924 incident really sucks. The way I see it, it's no secret that a new car is in the works if not ready for the showroom. There are plenty of spy pics and rumors floating around. A little taste or something solid from Porsche will be nice. I think it'll have a positive effect on the buyer who should really count. The buyer who will always be coming back for more.

It doesn't bother me that much. Car companies have to do it that way or they would completely stall the already anemic 996 sales. Do you think that they would sell any 996's if you knew specifics and that the car would be out in March 2004. I would just wait. Although, I guess it can work the other way to, as pics and news started leaking of the next M5(prior to the current pics which actually don't look that bad) many people tried to buy one of the last E39 M5's. BANGLE IS AN A**HOLE
