Going slow with mods, but want more.

03 Stock K16 car with 19K miles.
Current mods:
GT2 Hydraulic clutch conversion,
PSS10's,
GT3 Center console delete and
B&M shifter.

So, I'm thinking about a flash, but I'm torn.
My thoughts...
EPL or UMW flash (should have done the $995 deal with free diverters. Oh well).
Bite the bullet and go for a K24/16 ZC, or 24/18G. I'm not sure I want to do this much of an adder as then... I'll need a clutch...stat.

I guess what I'm looking for, is you were going to spend approx 1K, what would you do?
If you were going to spend approx 3K, 5K?.
And with whom and why?

Where about in upstate NY are you? I have a few representatives up there and may be there in the next week or two myself.

Shoot me an email if you would like to discuss upgrade paths.

In your $5k and under price range, I would say the k16/16g from EPL would be a great option. If you wanted to step it up a notch and spend a little more go with the k24/18g.

Think about some suspension work to the rear setup before you raise the HP.

What suspension work? He has PSS10s already.... not sure if he has sway bars, but what do you after that?

I think how you spend your money also depends on what kind of power you are accustomed to, and can handle, and will be satisfied with. Some are okay with 500, some need 700+ to be happy. Keep that in mind while you plan your purchases and go from there.

Enjoy!

I need daily driver reliability, and a good push in the back.
If I had to somehow quantify, I think a hit a bit harder than a x50 would be fine, and give me all the power I need. I've had the overbuilt tempermental screamers in both bikes and cars, and I don't need to go down that road again.
Just in search of "Thrust you can trust".

X50 is what, 450hp I think? In that case a Stage 2 type situation seems good for you, or a little more would be a k16/16g - very economical and 550-600 crank hp. Sounds like that might be what you are looking for.

If you are thinking of modds, make a wise choice and do your homework well. You might as well spend a good chunk and save some headaches.

Best (happy customers) 16/16G + tune vendors?
I'd rather do it without cores too.

I've been running EPL's K16/16g kit for probably more time and miles than anyone else on the board. It puts a smile on my face everytime I press the pedal. This is the first time I've modded a car and didn't want more power within 2 months. It has been completely headache free and a joy. I've driven my car back to back with a K24/18g car (with injectors) and while that car no-doubt made more top end power, I felt no desire to upgrade to that kit. The seat of the pants torque experience is very similar.
This is also the first time I've ever implicitly trusted a tuner. Tony has treated me like family and I've come to trust his opinion more than my own (that's not an easy thing to say for a self-important know-it-all like me).
Good luck whatever path you choose.

Best,
Michael
