Mod 996 TT tiptronic - LAUNCH ???

We have 996 TT here moded by Gemballa...around 600-650 HP...with TIPTRONIC...the boost only comes at 3500-4000 RANGE...very slow off the line till like 30 miles by the time it takes off stcok 997 TT TIPS is 4 car upfront...

Anyone know what can be done do solve this problem ??? I know there are modifianed TORGUE CONVERTERs availible but would they let u luanch the car from 3500-4000 RPMS ???

Trade it for a 6 speed?

Just kidding...
Have you tried NOT stomping on the pedal? I've heard that if you just slowly modulate the pedal down it will take off faster, instead on pushing the pedal right to the floor all at once...

Hold the brake and run up the RPM's to about 2700 and launch it. Try it a few times and you'll be able to do it with out spinning. But you might be AWD and you might not spin at all. I spin since I'm RWD.

Todd, what if you are rolling, like say 30-40mph, and you stomp on it. Does it kickdown and go, or is there a short delay and slowly spool? At 30-40, should you just smack it to 1/2 throttle until it starts to go and then push it the rest of the way?

I always run in Manual if I'm racing or trying a 60/130. If I drop to 2nd at 35 and nail it, it will spin. Lately I've been in 3rd at about 35 and "break boosting" to run up to .8-.9 bar and THEN launch full throttle and by 60 I'm flying. It's still a work in progress. BTW, I got nailed with radar at 136. I didn't get pulled over tho. I was in Mexico.

The fastest way that I know of from stand still is...
1. Turn off the PSM - it would kick in if the wheels spin, my car is AWD. It always kicked in from stand still; some times it kicked in when shift to 2nd gear from rolling start.
2. Click down to 1st gear; leave it on D, not M (the Tip knows when to shift better than you)
3. Hold your brake with one foot
4. Gas it until 2700-3000
5. Let go the brake and step on it. You will get wheels spin, but when they catch on, it goes.

I believe Car & Driver does it the same way with their road tests, with cars without launch control.

I always run in manual too. I've been practicing my 60-130's myself. No traction here though, when I break boost and let off the brake it goes sideways...

If you don't have boost until 3500-4000 I think somethings not right...I have K24 turbos, UMW tune and I have .7 to .8 by 3000, 1.1 at 4000, maybe check codes for possible problems

I changed my divertor valves and put in the softronic software and my boost kicks in sooner on my TIP. Do the brake hold like my996tt said and you should be doing good launches.

Jsut read ur post... got me tinking about ur car.... and since I know UWM and have such products including K24s I can tell you that if it tales you 4K rpms to get to 1.1 bars then there is something wrong wiht your car... more like a boost leak ...
My garrett gt35rs are at full boost at 4400 rpms... and they cold side of rth ehousing is the size of my head LOL my point is it should not take you that long to hit full boost...
Get the car pressure tested...

Thanks for all info guys...We treid diff techniques and nothing helps to launch better...the car is SLOW till 30, then boost kicks in and it goes...boost arrives 3500-4000 rpms...

So their is no modified converter that will enable u to launch from higher RPMS ??? I know Evoms has it, anyone know how does it work and from which Rpms you can launch with it ???

What should I checl in the car ???
