Best performance mods without turbo upgrade
Hi ... New to the community and Ive got to say that there is a ton of info out there.... very impressed. As a newbie Porsche owner (2005 996 Turbo S Cab) I am unsure what upgrades to do and in what order. I felt that a flash, intake, dv's and exhaust would be a good start... am I missing anything? Not really wanting to tackle the turbos yet but I do want to make performance upgrade choices that I can continue to build on over time. Thanks in advance Thomas

Whereas a suspension will add performance at virtually ANY speed.
My short list for the most fun to drive
Exhaust
DV's
Flash
Suspension
Brake Pads
Drop some cheap weight out of the car.
That should leave you having fun, enjoying the car and getting the best bang for your buck.

If it were me, and I've been known to be a bit of a NOOB, but I'd sped the money first on suspension, and then brakes.
A: Coil overs
B: Adjustable sway bars
C: Adjustable Drop links
For a street car you have more than enough adjustment for a street performance alignment. I'd shoot for 1.5 negative front camber and 2.0 Negative rear camber, with front Sway bar adjustments set soft and rear Sway bar adjustments set at firm. This will counter too much understeer.
If you plan to track the car on road course, you'll eventually need more negative camber and compensation for too much caster...
1: GT3 lower control arms front and rear
2: Pillow mounts (If they didn't come with the coilovers you bought)
3: Adjustable Toe Links on the rear
4: Motor and tranny mounts
I personally believe that the above are a total package recipee for the perfect street (and then ultimate track) 996 Turbo...
Then of course there is the Brake department... See the Sticky above!

Thanks for the advice Mikelly...this is an S model with gen 2 pccbs. Still room for improvement? Any particular coil over you might suggest ? Bilsteins? Any particular Sway Bar? Thanks again for your insight. Thomas
For street use the PCCBs are fine. The PCCBs wear increadibly quickly on road courses, so you'd want to "downgrade" the rotor and pad to the more conventional steel rotor and aftermarket pads.
Lots of folks have had good success with the JICs, and their advantage is the billowball mounts. I personally have been using the PSS9s with great success, but they don't have the pillowmount/camber plates (and cost about $1000 less!).
