Hey guys, new to forum. Just bought a 2002 996TT my first p-car. It is being shipped to me and should be here in about a week. also have a 2006 Z06 LMB. So far this forum looks like a great place to get some info on the 996. Any tips for a new 996 owner?
Congrats! I truely believe 2002 is the best year, like a fine wine!
Post some pictures when it arrives! What color / options, etc?
I am a fairly new owner - 1.5 months... Here are a few tips I picked up:
1. Supposed to let car idle for 1-2 minutes before turning off to let turbos cool down and not bake the oil in them.
2. Fill gas tank with nozzle upside down if you cant get it full... Put around 1/2 - 3/4 tank in to reset the mpg counter, etc.
3. Set an alarm on the computer (LIMIT) to alert you to your speed! These cars accelerate so fast, you will be doing 100 in no time. I have mine set at 100mph to let me know.
4. And like Chuck said, hide your wallet... I am already getting the mod bug, but not did any yet... I have a new air filter and spark plugs on the way - those count as mods, right?
If you can figure out how to work the front and yes, rear, fog lights without reading the manual, I give you kudos!
Again, congrats, and tell us more when you get it!

something we should all know but it didn't stop me from buying a bulb and trying to put it in...there is only one rear fog light on the drivers side...that's the way they do it in Europe...don't try to put a bulb in the passenger side cuz there is no wiring going there...ugh...ask me how I know...

So, how do you know? LOL I did notice that, but thought I had a bulb out... Good to know, thanks Chuck!

I'm a relative n00b here too...and to the world of P cars. I just bought an 02 996TT in November and cannot stop smiling

I already want to mod it, want to see that boost gauge go over 1 bar
. I've done the double DIN radio mod...that's it so far. Enjoy
