out with the old...
there is drone but it is better than straight pipes only. Livable imo. The drone is not at speed, but at rpm, and it typically starts at 2300 rpm and ends at 2700 rpm range and gets louder under load. by 2800 you are out of the drone zone. Most aftermarket exhaust have some sort of drone, but you just don't hear it as bad. Even the EP loud has it but it is not loud and so not noticed as much.
Sort of OT, but my FVD Sport Exhaut is exactly as you described here...^^^ If you are not used to it, it can be a nuisance. I've had worse and love the way it sounds outside as I finally got to hear it drive down the road....the way a Porsche is supposed to sound
I wonder how the drone is on the 996/997 GT3's with single exit loud exhaust. Maybe there is something to it. Unfortunately not much engineering goes into the sound factor of these exhaust systems, it's all about flow. I modified a Fabspeed Gen 1 and it flows the same now, but the drone is about half as bad as it use to be. I did it by removing the old mufflers which were nearly 24 inches long each(straight through resonator type), put two 9 inch race mufflers in place of each single unit for a total of four, 2 on each pipe. I then cross connected the two pipes in the middle between each muffler with a flexible connection. This balancing tube does make a difference. Sound is much better and drone is far less. But it is expensive to do, and I paid a lot. In the end it sounds great. I may eventually go to a quieter exhaut b ut till then this one will work.
I would love to have an exhaust that sounds like mine, but with no drone or resonance...can you say perfect world? I wish there were more people around that we could just trade exhausts for a week or two?
$5k just seems crazy for any exhaust. And when shopping around, youtube videos are such crap quality that you really cannot make a decision based on that. You have to listen to it in person.
yup, the perfect TT exhaust has not been invented yet, but there are some great ones and some really good custom ones. What kills me is the high cost of tubing and welds

Yup. As soon as I get a lift, gonna start fabbing my own. It'll be a while though...
the fabspeed looks to be a straight pipe with a small resonator and added exhaust length from the "crossover."
some have run straight pipes and claimed that their cars have felt slower after install.
wonder how fabspeed claims the highest hp gain while those who run straight pipes are feeling losses...the only thing that changed was the exhaust length?
and we need a video!

Please explain the pros/cons
