My K24/18g build up ..... a long road
My K24/18g build up ..... a long road
Over the last few months i've been gathering the components needed to turn my almost stock Turbo into something a little more exciting to drive. I started with finding a good set of K24's for sale here and purchased the remainder of the components from other members or sponsors.
My turbos were modified by Blouch Turbo. I had some initial issues when the turbos were returned which I believe was no fault of Blouch Turbo. Mike was as shocked as I was with the condition in which I received the turbos. After a few headaches the turbos are on the car. I had other minor issues throughout the process but everything has worked out fine in the end.
I'd like to give major props to Wes from Titan Motorsports ...... I ordered a few of the bits and pieces for my build from them and when my installer was going to put on the diverter valves he realized they were for a 997. Steve called Wes and no questions asked sent out a new set that day overnight ..... They are supposed to be here this morning. Thank You Wes if I had to wait another day I might go insane. I've had my car down for three weeks now. Todd Knighton of Protomotive has been patient with all my questions and given me helpful bits of advice that i know will be valuable both now and in the future as I continue to modify the car. I spoke with Marksi at length one night. Let me warn anyone before they get on the phone with Marek ....... this guys is a fountain of knowledge. I appreciate all you had to share and your past experiences. A number of other people including all of the Houston guys have contributed knowledge or shared past expereinces which have led me to this point.
I'm picking up the car this afteroon from Steve Ott @ DriverSource. Steve has check and double checked everything the whole way through. Improvements have been suggested and made and I know Steve always puts out a good product. I'll post my driving impressions once i've picked up the car and changed my pants.

Marek,
I'll have Steve pressure test the car. He is finishing up the wiring on the EBC right now and doing a oil change.

I did the same thing as you. I sourced a lot of my parts, including my turbos, from the for sale section. You're right, Mark is an unbelievable asset to this forum.
Have fun with your new power and hold on tight. The K24/18g with Todd's tune transforms the car into a monster.

Well, this is my first post with driving impressions. Last night I drove it without even tinkering with the Greddy and I was impressed ....... not blown away but I was certainly happy with the better than stock driveability. Todd sent me a little guide this morning to tinker with the Greddy so I went and made a few adjustments and at lunch went for another test drive. Got the boost to 1 bar and it holds there solidly. The car really scoots now. I can't wait to fill it up with some of the smelly stuff and turn up the boost a little more. a/f ratios are dead on ....... the power is honestly suprisingly linear considering some have spoken about how much laggier K24/18G's would be. Having ridden in a few tuned Porsches now I have to say i'm continually blown away by how stock like-smooth Todd K's programming is. Thanks again to Todd, Wes, Marek and of course Steve Ott at DriverSource for a clean trouble free install.
