Okay first of all i don't mean to start a war with this thread. Just want to clarify something’s that i think members should be aware. Last night my buddy and i were heading to get his car dyno, at a mustang dyno. They didn't have a AWD so i could n't dyno my car. I wanted to drag race him to get a reference of perhaps how much my car is pushing. Anyways, we draggred race 3 times on a empty stretch of road from about 50- to 120. I would pull about 3-4 car lengths from those speeds and at higher speeds just walk away.

We get to the dyno and his e55 k put down an awesome hp/ tq curve. But it only put down 390whp and 460tq. I was a bit shocked thinking wow, i weight in my car and it was 3340 with 1/4 tank of gas. and i can barely pull on him. I must have way lower HP then what i though i had.

Nonetheless he was also disappointed with his numbers, and my friend had an ipod with the dyno testing on it. We were heck why not , lets give it a shot see how accurate it is. I entered in the proper weight of the car and drivers weight. And we did the runs. The ipod said the car had 394 rwhp. Fair enough, very close to what the dyno said, and this is outside getting air !

I said what the heck lets do my car. I entered the proper weight, and went for it. IT came back with 368rwhp. I was . All this time i thought i had over 400rwhp. Boy was i wrong. I did the run 3 times, all the times within a few hp difference. I get home and search for Vivids racing dyno chart on a base flash. I have DV's and K&n , Straight pipes.

And looking at the graph i realized how much superior the EPL tune is over any of its relative competitors in the same price range. The graphs themselves speak the truth!

I figured i would share this information, so if anyone is looking for a flash, just from looking at the dyno graphs, it seems like the EPL tune is worth the money. I think i might go get one, but i'm a bit hesitant. Not because i think the vivid upsolute is superior, but because eh screw it- it just means i just have to become a better track driver and get some light seats, learn to drive better on the track and then get the EPL tune which imo from looking at the graphts its much, much better. Congrats to EPL for making an amazing tune for our cars. And us as consumers should look into the hp/tq curve before making decisions!

 

what gear were you in ?
do you have any boost leaks ? how do you know you dont have any boost leaks ?

 

No boost leak as far as i know. Been boost leaked test a few weeks ago. Also the ipod dyno thing works by doing a 1/4 mile.

What I'm trying to say is. Look at the EPL Vs. Upsolute/Softronic. How much quicker it makes full power. At 3500rpm you have full hp /tq vs the others have beak tq there and hp is flat from 3500 to 5800 rpm then it just spikes up the last 1000 rpm which imo is not good for road racing nor drag racing.

 

you have to understand, thats the difference between a generic tune, and a custon dyno tune

a company like EPL, will tune YOUR car.. meaning, it will be optimized for YOUR exhaust, YOUR type of fuel, YOUR altitude ... even your dominant sexual behavior ...

for example, my car has been programed via an external speaker to make the sound of a man having an orgasm everytime the wastegates open

 

...Yes I agree, BUT from my understanding, this is what an EPL tune puts out... so its a 'generic' tune ?

 

no i thought u got those numbers from the softronic tune ?
i misread it then... i thought the epl gave you 41x rwhp, and that the softronic gave you 36x rwhp

I've never seen a Mustang Dyno that WASN'T an AWD dyno?

Do you have an EPL tune?

 

If you put 3-4 car lengths on him from 50-120 and walked away from him at higher speeds, I'm not understanding what you are saying the problem is.

 

yeah...3 to 4 car lengths and pulling away at higher speeds is not "barely pulling on him"???

I have the vivid racing upsolute flash. And yes a car that weights 3350lbs and barely pulling on a e55k stock with 3 pp is 'barely' pulling.

So let me get this straight as I am also confused here...... you are expecting your IPOD dyno program to provide accurate results everytime on other cars because it was close to the real numbers on the e55?

 

Maybe time to update your ipod firmware ?
I have Upsolute flash on stock k16 dynoed 420awhp/488tq on a mustang dyno ,and I was head to head with a 650hp e55 from 3rd to 6k rpm on 4th gear ,after that ,I started to gain on him a bit
