Do I need a amber bulb or can it stay white?

 

are you talking turn signals or side markers? Us DOT requires them to be amber...of course you can do what you want.

 

There are bulbs that are chromed so they don't look amber but they are amber color when on. I bought some on ebay for $5 a pair. Then you remove the head lights and replace the bulbs. Do a search for the correct bulbs and head light removal.

 

Yes, use the amber bulbs that have a chrome coating. Around here you will get pulled over if your signals don't flash amber.

 

legally it must be amber, but you can pop out the clear bulb from the orange ones and put it in the clear ones that you buy.

to answer your question, its easy. with your hand on the inside of the fenderwell, push to the front of the car and pull out towards you as they are held in by a spring clip.

 

Sorry talking about side markers not the front, headlite turn signals.

 

Any lights in the front of the vehicle can be (legally) white or yellow/amber. Sidemarkers can be white to match the parking lights in headlamps and I prefer that setup.

 

I'm not sure if the law is different in NY, but they will pull you over with white blinkers. Even if it's legal, I get pulled over enough and don't need to entice the cops. (I've gotten stopped for having clear license plate covers.)

 

i was once pulled over because the chp officer said (after he ided me) that he just wanted to get a better look at my wife(she's blond) i told him i'd leave her home when speeding....

 

Sorry, this is incorrect. It is illegal to have anything but amber for turn signals and side markers (US DOT)...now whether you get pulled over for this is a different story. So if you get the clear sides, they come with amber bulbs to replace the clear ones...very easy to change

 

That's a good problem to have. You get no sympathy from me.

 

Some states have individual laws that differ but Federal DOT standards mandate white or amber for the front, amber for the side and amber or red for the rear.
