My newly painted rims.
Looks great....what did you use and how did you do it?
It was actually really easy. just took a lot of time. if you can do all four at once it will go faster. I could only do 2 at a time so it took 3 days for each set.
1 first I took them off the car
2 I washed them at the car wash to get rid of as much dirt as I could
3 I washed them down with paint thinner to get everything else of them. You can knock out the porsche cap in the middle of the wheel but hitting it lightly from behind.
4 I sanded them with 280 grit getting all of the clear coat off and making sure there was no shine left.
5 If you have any niks or scraps will them with a bondo at this point
6 Next I sanded them down with a 400 grit and then a 600 just to make sure there were no sanding scratches
7 Then I taped them all off making sure everything was covered. that paint seems to find little holes if you don't get everything covered.
8 Then I used paint thinner again on them to get all dirt and dust off.
9 Then I used Scratch Filler Primer. I just got this from Canadian Tire here
10 Then I used 1200 Grit to get any little imperfections off. took like 2 minutes as primer when on really good.... I did 2 coats, not sure if I had to.
11 I waited tell the next day. Don't think I had to but I thought why not.
12 Then I started my paint coat. I used Wurth Paint and Clear coat. It worked really well. I did one thin coat. Then I waited about 30 min and did a thicker coat. Then I waited 2 hours and did another decent coat and then 30 more minutes and did a thin last coat.
13. Then I waited till the next day again.
14. Started my clear coat I did one light coat and then waited 30 minutes and did a medium coat. Then I waited 2 hours and did another decent coat. Then I waited 30 minutes and did a final light coat.
I am not sure if there is a better way to do the coats but it worked REALLY well for me. No runs or peeling look at all.
15 Then I waited until the next day removed the tape and plastic
16 And finally I got to put them back on the car
Thats it. It was really easy just took some time. But was well worth it!!

Wurth German Alloy Silver Wheel Lacquer is a fast-drying lacquer that matches the standard alloy wheel paint use by Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, VW, Audi and most other European OEMs. Wurth German Alloy Silver Wheel Lacquer can be effectively used for spot repairs or full wheel restoration.
The German design nozzle produces a fine, even spray that is easy to control and produces a near-factory finish. Wurth German Alloy Silver Wheel Lacquer dries quickly and is chip resistant. Use several very light coats and allow 30 minutes drying time between coats. The silver color coat will have a textured look and feel that provides a three dimensional effect when properly finished with a clear topcoat (use two coats of Wurth High Gloss Clear Lacquer as the final topcoat).

I'm glad those links worked out for you
Good job on the wheels....
, let me know when you tackle the calipers
Here's a neat link for a process of fixing scuff marks which is close to the same thing but easier if you don't need to do the whole thing.
