the world's most pragmatic super car...

earlier this week i attended an offsite meeting in montauk, long island. the dilemma was that i wanted to drive the 911 plus take my bike along to enjoy beach front riding. i bet that no other super car offers the solution i experienced with the 911....see the photos:

Sean,

That's awesome! You might pass me in the mileage department after all. Ever since I picked up the A8L, that's all I drive. Talk about nice and comfy! All the amenities I could ask for in a sedan!

Soon2be993tt/fdb996c2...it's a porsche made 996 rack for road bikes attached easily. porsche also makes one for mountain bikes.

rockitman...wow...didn't realise you bike as well. so does ken (kpv). in fact i just ordered a '05 felt s22 as an upgrade to the c-dale.

bill....i know the feeling....as i've said to you of the 2 cars i own i prefer to drive the vw. when you purchased the a8l, did you ever consider/test drive the phaeton as a comparator? here as some pics of my favorite car:

I've got the same rack (Porsche, made by Thule). It's great. Bolts into the roof, well designed with a very solid construction. Bought it years ago, but only used it a few times. It's really handy when you need it though.

Once we were running way late for a group function and it was raining (but dry where we were headed). You should have seen the looks on peoples faces when we passed them on the highway at triple-digit speeds in the rain with bikes on the roof...priceless! (They tell you not to go over 100mph with the rack on, that's conservative as we had 2 mountain bikes up there and no problems exceeding that speed.) Also, the bikes dry really quickly up there...

Sean,

I thought about the phaeton, however, the A8L was really a spur of the moment purchase. I probably should have looked at the phaeton (dollar for dollar, definitely more bang for the buck (W12)) but I went into a dealership on Wed (with no intention to buy so soon) and signed all paperwork the next day.

They had the color/options that I wanted Blk/Blk of course...and that was it.
