V8V AC Compressor replacement options
Hello, I am dealing with a failed AC clutch on my 07 V8V. The 10A fuse in the engine bay use box at position 10(for AC Clutch) blows out every time I turn on the AC. I am fairly certain that the coils in the electro magnet for the clutch have a short. With that being said, I am looking at options to fixing it, knowing from other cars, the clutch should be easily replicable but finding the right replacement is going to be the main challenge.
I am certain that there has to be a non-AM option from the XK8 or the Range Rover sport. My questions to you guys are, (1) Has anyone had to replace the AC compressor, if so, did you use a part from some other source? (2) In your expert opinion, would replacing the clutch coil be the best course of action?
Regards,
AM newbie

I havent checked yours but for the db9 I put in the part number on my AC and got a match to one on aliexpress. 200 bucks later it was in my car. Shipped dry but easily filled with the proper amount of pag-32 (if memory serves)

How long ago was that? How is the Chinese fake holding up compared to the OEM?
@AM4884 Thanks for finding the part, It is the same part number as the one that goes on the V8V. I have been exploring JLR options but this seems comparable.
Note: every mechanic will recommend replacing the dryer along with the compressor.
As far as I know there are no JLR or Ford options. The OEM supplier for Aston is Denso, and our compressors are unique to our make, and even remanufactured ones cost $750+. I'm interested to see how long these $120 Chinese knock-offs last before they start leaking.

Used one on AM bits, most of their used parts are very newish. Not rusty junk from a scrap yard. Its about 1/2 price of a new one. I have an A/C guy I use for custom fab work. He usually matches up thru his vendors. Claims most are in Texas that it's the A/C capital of the USA. Phone call or emails may help source one.
I am wondering if the Ford T-Bird compressor would work. They look similar to the one on my DB9 when I was looking for similar parts on her 'bird. Many of the interior bits and other things like the starter are identical. Interestingly, the have an identical wheelbase.
just a FYI from first item when googling "denso where made"... "Currently, DENSO has 22 production companies in China producing a variety of products including automotive air-conditioning systems, engine control components, fuel injection components, alternators, starters, and car navigation systems."
Thanks for all the responses, I totally agree, we should be able to use parts, its just a matter of all the effort of putting the parts numbers together. I thought there was a sticky for alternative parts.
I am trying to put together a list, but it is hard going through all the threads and trying to make sure that they fit. Then there are the permutations by model year and model. If anyone has a list of know parts, please provide me with the Model, Year, Engine, Part Name and description, and the Alternative. Too many threads - it is taking me a while
AC Clutch replacement
My 2007 V8V AC compressor is making a loud grumbling / rumbling noise, I think its from the clutch bearing, despite the car having just 17k miles. I ordered this kit for under $100 delivered from Ali Express. 5SA12C AC Compressor Clutch OEM 4G43-19D629-AA 247300-3260 447180-7460 447260-0040 447260-0043 447260-0044 447260-0046
I'll fit it over the weekend and see how it works out. If I still have the noise, I'll probably throw in a used OEM one, but I am hoping to avoid all the degassing and re-gassing drama, which would make my car mechanically totaled at CA Bay Area prices.

Good luck. the other "option" is that it has slow leaked down and you've lost oil as well. Should you replace the compressor with the old one, be sure to add oil. I had this issue recently with another vehicle - it was making grumbling noises. I added 4 ounces of oil and it quieted up. (4 which is about 1/2 of the total fill for that installation).
