New LED Tail Lights

I was looking up some exhaust info and noticed something. If you go to the Europipe website, and look at the 996 turbo videos, you will see that when they step on the brakes at the end of the video, the lights are circular LED's. Did anyone else notice this or am I seeing things.

If they are, where/how did they do this? How can I get these same lights?

Interesting it's also on their 996 GT2 video. I've never seen those before. Must be a prototype thing that one of their shop guys made just to be different. I'd like to see what they look like with a closer view. For those who haven't seen it.

I believe that these are LED replacement bulbs. I have seen something like this on ebay.

To me they look too perfectly circular to be just LED bulbs. They do look really nice. Anyone know someone at Europipe to email and ask them the detail on those lights.

Looking at the videos again, it seems that the circlulr LEDS fill up the entire cavity in the light housing. The LED bulbs that are linked to on ebay have to fit through the stock opening and thus will only give a very small circle. I don' think thats what they are using.

I still think that Europipe is using something different. Anyone know someone at Europipe that they can ask?

emailed Stef at europipe, let you know if I get a reply:

Hi Stef...
You sold me a stage2 quiet a couple years ago...wanted to let you know still very happy. Also there is a question on 6speedonline.com about brake lights that appear to be "round" when illuminated. Seen on silver car stage 1 video...and some others. Curious if these are leds, or some other aftermarket brake bulb? Thanks Joe

Well heres the answer and thanks for the reply Stef:

Hello again Joe ,

Those are stock cars with stock brake lights. The silver TT is a Belgian car , the GT2 was French with Luxemburg license plates. Must be a camera / video side effect.
Or maybe the ROW brake lights differ from the U.S. model !

Best wishes , Stef

I ordered a set for my truck and they light up very small... the light will be as wide as the bulb. I'm thinking of doing a set of LED rears for fun... but I will need to find a used set of tails before I go at it

www.superbrightleds.com and www.superlumination.com are the best sites for brake light bulb LED application.

Agree with Edwin:

The ebay link bulbs fit in the brake bulb position, They are easy to switch out with two screws and a screw driver, BUT they are dimmer than the stock bulb and no percievable shade change. In short don't buy them.
