The Official Porsche Museum Pics and Video Tour

Vivid Racing had the pleasure of touring the new Porsche museum and factory here in Stuttgart, Germany on March 26, 2009. The Porsche Museum consists of an evolution of both the 911 and racing cars from Ferdinand Porsche. Included on display in the Stuttgart facility is some of the concept cars including the original Boxster, 911 turbo, Porsche GT1, and Carrera GT. In addition to the museum tour, we also got to tour the facility. This included the manufacturing process of chassis assembly, motor and tranny installation, as well as the interior assembly. Because of strict Porsche regulations, we were not allowed to take pictures inside the factory. However you can see below many pictures from the Porsche Museum. Only the 911 including the Carrera, GT3, Turbo, and GT2 are made at the Stuttgart factory. All cars are "just in time inventory" as they are made to order for customers. They produce about 80 cars per shift working 2 shifts per day. The Cayenne and Cayman are produced in Finland, however their engines are still build in the engine room of Stuttgart. Porsche Stuttgart has over 4000 employees with 350+ working in the assembly line to produce your specialty to Porsche. Check out the pictures and video below.

Iceyankee-Tsi is infamous around these parts
Hi Guys:

I haven't had the oportunity to travel to Europe and the first place I would like to visit is in fact Germany. Been this one of the "must-see" places to visit. I was just wondering how much in terms of cash would be reasonable to take with you if planning to stay for about 2 weeks? Germany alone. What would be a "ballpark" figure for a couple? Thanks.

Andres

For this trip including the wife and I, I am probably at around $4500. That is 9 days. Flew into London, stayed at a Hilton, took the Eurostar to Brussels and stayed at a Hilton. Picked up a rental BMW 118d from Sixt.com through my friends at europebycar.com. Drove to Nurburgring. CLOSED!!! because of snow. Left my hotel there early and headed to Stuttgart for 2 nights. Did the Porsche thing. Now in Frankfurt. Tomorrow flying back to my London and staying with my brother 1 night and then going back to Arizona. Unless you have alot planned, 2 weeks is WAY TO LONG.
