Installed my first Turbo mod

After reading this forum for a year and a half I finally broke down and decided it was time to add some power. I bought rdf16's Speedtech 70mm exhaust earlier in the week and it arrived here on Thursday. I spent Thursday evening removing the old one and yesterday evening putting the new one on (had to wait for the new exhaust rings from the dealer). I couldn't believe the difference it makes. I've never owned a turbo prior to this and the exhaust makes the turbos kick in noticeably sooner. I'm not sure about how much power was gained as I don't have a well tuned butt dyno.

So then - what's next? A flash or a flash with turbos? I've been talking to Kevin at UMW about his flashes and turbos for a while and I've seen alot of folks on here going with EPL lately. I'm not going to ask who's got the best kit but I would like some suggestions of other hybrid turbo kit options to consider.

I just went with Kevin's flash and you will not believe the difference. The only down side is that with all the extra power, I had to buy Kevin's LWFW clutch because mine went out immediately.

We are on the same boat! I have just got my RPI exhaust last week and I couldn't be happier. I will go for a flash first and I may also need a bigger brake, as the car is / will be really fast.

I was worried about that. I just had a clutch job done a year ago and I'm kicking myself for not putting in a stronger clutch then. I didn't have the option though because the Porsche dealer wouldn't put anything but OEM. They also charged me for something like 24 hours of labor. I guess I'll need to find a local Porsche shop that can install a clutch at a more reasonable rate.

YES, if you go to any hybrid turbo, you will need a better clutch VERY soon. With these cars, most people need one after a flash!!!

After Kevin's flash, I had to get a new clutch.

That's were we come in! We can also do your tune or turbo upgrade as well Have you thought about dynoing your car? Get some videos up for us! I bet the exhaust made a nice difference but the tune will be night and day! Have you thought of doing a GIAC flash for it?

I like it. It finally sounds like it drives! I keep driving with the windows down so I can hear it at WOT.

There is certainly some drone but it's not intolerable. I can't really notice it with the radio on and the windows up.

I actually spoke to Kevin about this "issue"... he said he can detune his flash if too much power is an issue for people.

Really power is power, nobody's is more likely to kill a clutch.

Anyway, I'd choose a tuner based on how/who you are doing the mods.... the vendor needs to 'fit' into who is touching your car. I DIY so kevin was a pretty comfortable fit, plus I like his approach.

Adam - I certainly want to dyno my car but my local options are slim. Unfortunately all of your locations are at least a 3 hour drive from me. Some type of flash is definitely next on my list followed by some k24/18g's.
