Like many others the Turbo was my dream car. My brother's dream car was always a Lamborghini.

This movie is what made me fall in love with Porsches. One of my favorite old movies and have it on DVD. There is one part that I love and it is a quote from Sheen. They were out stealing Porsches and Sweeney asked him about a Ferrari and Sheen said "Italian trash. Besides, I only steal Porsches."

I bought mine for one reason really. In the grand scheme of exotics the Porsche is probably the most refined, (due to the years of experience Porsche has) and thus one of the most reliable. I have had a few exotics all of which were somewhat less that useful as a daily driver. With the benefit of being tweakable. The Porsche TT cracks that mold for sure, at least IMHO.

Loved the original Turbo Carrera...

It was 1976 when, as a teenager, I decided I wanted one. For a brief time in 1990 I experienced the Turbo mystique with my girlfriend's dad's 1989 911 Turbo.

And now, 18 years after that, I finally got one. Took me over 30 years, but I finally now own one. Hey, what can I say? I'm a late bloomer...

No going back now...

I was just being hatched in 1976.

Your girlfriend's dad let you, as a teenager, drive his 911 Turbo?? I don't know that I could be that trusting!

Hehe, I'd have to agree with you about teenagers and 911 Turbos...

However, I was a teenager when I originally wanted one (17 at the time) in 1976. Then, in 1990, when I was 31, I finally got to drive one - my girlfriend's dad's car.

She actually didn't have his permission to take the car out of the garage - he was out of town for the weekend and was blissfully unaware of her doing so. She did most of the driving and I got to drive it for a short time.

She knew how to drive the beast and had previously had a fair amount of time with it - she drove it up to Seattle from LA when her dad bought it.

It was a blast.

Me: "So, I guess we were doing around 90 just now, right?"
She: "It was 130 actually..."
