Finally picked up the car, very excited about it and somewhat happy that it actually doesn't have the factory nav unit. Indeed, it's such a dinosaur system that it's not cool having it in the car anymore.

Anyway, as indicated, my 03 doesn't have nav. The double-DIN area is occupied by AC and stock CD player. Is this an easy job to just replace the stock CD player with aftermarket unit?

Contemplating to go single DIN CD/mp3 player vs. CD/mp3 player w/ motorized flip up Nav screen, which will cover the A/C buttons...need some insight and suggestion over here.

 

As I recall, the 03 is a M.O.S.T. fiberoptic system, even without the Nav. Makes the upgrade more difficult. Others will jump in with more knowledge.

At a minimum, you need to replace the head unit, the amps and, if you have it, the CD changer (if you want it).

I'm considering the same thing on my Nav equipped 04.

 

OK...hope others can chime in...because I am not looking at any major operation over here...I just want to bump up the music storage over here. Nav is only a bonus at this point.
