Shifting and other issues...

I'm considering dropping my transmission and having it rebuilt, but before I do that, I would like to get some advice here... I know I have an issue with my hydraulics... I had a brand new accumulator unthread itself on me while driving the car on the track last september. I'm guessing that the thing was damaged during the drive, as the clutch pedal hasn't worked properly since... So I'm going to order a new accumulator and a master cylinder. I'm not showing evidence of the slave cylinder reverse flowing, so I'm assuming the slave didn't get damage. It was replaced along with the accululator last summer.

But the shifting is also very laze when compared to other cars I've driven... I have a new 997 shifter installed and I have no issues getting the car into gear other than first gear sometimes having issues due to what was diagnosed as a mainshaft first gear chip or tooth deformation issue that will require a replacement when we rebuild the tranny. So my question is should I consider replacing the cables as well? Could they be part of the problem with the shifting effort?

I'm also getting some misfire/CEL codes and wonder if I'm in need of 02 sensors or if my 8 year old coil packs are finally giving up the ghost...

Did you have your transmission flushed? Is it low on fluid?

Mike are you going to put in steel synchros when you rebuild?

You know I'm no expert but when was the last time you changed plugs? Could be coil packs. Do you have a code reader?

My brothers truck was recently misfiring and it turned out to be an O2 sensor.

Larry, I had the Beru plugs swapped out last spring... I keep getting codes for misfires and pre and post cat so it could well be the 02 sensors. It's not going into limp mode, and I'm still making full boost. I'll probably go with steel syncros and a tranny cooler when we rebuild it... Gonna be pricey!

The car has had very regular fluid flushes over the last two years (every other DE) for the tranny and diff.

Just pulled the codes after this CEL and found P0420 and P0430 again... Last time I got those to with P0301, P0302 and P0304. Time before was P0420/P0430 and P0301 and P0303. The plugs were changed last spring (about 14 months and 6K miles ago...).

The car is showing ZERO power loss...
