I want to know to! There is a little button on the mirror stem as well that makes it brighter, etc.

TMK, it is simply a little LED light that illuminates the center console area....many newer cars have these little buggers to highlight switches at night.

It actually points right at the ignition switch. if you ever get in the car in the pitch black (like in the garage when the lights are off) you'll appreciate it.

I think he's talking about the LED in the door handle that points to the ignition switch.

Yup... I guess I should read the thread more carefully. There are two indeed... one that shines on the shifter and center console... and one on the door handle that illuminates the ignition key.

Both are intended to keep you from fumbling around in the dark... something I do regularly since I leave for the office at 4:30am.

it's just a simple light. You can dim it by pushing the button raineycd is talking about.

I think all the led's stay on for 2 or 3 days without activity. As I understand, they draw very minimal current.
