Alcantera/suede wrapped steering wheel *pics*

I decided to swap from my CF wheel to a alcantera/suede wrapped wheel....I had a Dallas Custom Steering Wheels (dallassteeringwheel.com) do it for me. Here are pics before I install it:

I had an extra 1/8" padding added to make the wheel a little thicker also.

I'll get pics up of it installed next week.

That looks really terrific! A few questions though...

1. How well do you expect that material to hold up over time?
2. How long was the turn-around time?
3. What is a rough price estimate? (you can PM me)

Thanks, and enjoy!

Steve,

1) A good friend of mine has the same material on his S4 steering wheel and its holding up great! He has had his on his car for about a year now.

2) Turn around was pretty fast...~ week for them to wrap and ship back

3) Price for what I got was in the $300-350 range....they have a lot of different options so price can vary depending on what you want. email or call Don, he's great to deal with.

Thanks for the quick reply. One question I forgot to ask is did you have them use your carbon rimmed steering wheel as the donor, or did you sell it to someone else with a leather rimmed wheel first? I also have an OEM carbon rimmed steering wheel and would prefer to sell it to someone who wanted it first (as partial trade for leather rimmed), should I choose to go down this path.

No, I sold the CF wheel in trade for a leather wheel and had the leather wheel wrapped.

Don told me he has wrapped the CF wheels too.

My thinking was the same as yours.

Looks great, thanks for sharing.

I've seen a couple other custom steering wraps, and this is definetly one of the better ones.

Steve, if you wanted to go that route let me know and we can work out a deal for your carbon wheel for my leather wheel.

Looks great. I am looking into doing the shifter/ebrake as well so if anyone else has experience with this I would appreciate any feedback!

looks great, but more importantly that is a good track upgrade cause now your hands wont slip all over driving at speed. thats why the GT3's come factory like that.
nice choice, form follows function
