New to site, soon to be 996 owner! Hi everyone
SubscribeHi guys, just wanted to say Hi to everyone and introduce myself. My name is Paul I live just outside O'hare. Big Porsche/Audi/VW fan for years, finally gonna make the trifecta. I bought my 02' Gti 337 brand new when I graduated from high school, currently just finished my 99' Audi A4 2.7T swap (stock turbos for now, 3.0L GT28rs coming soon), and sometime in the very near future a 996 turbo x50 package. I've been reading a lot, I don't post much, but I'm on forums like vwvortex, audizine, quattroworld(the new audiworld since AW screwed up their site) and now you guys. Lot of great info I've already read and looking forward to owning my first Porsche and completing the trifecta, now all I need is a Lambo and a Bentley and I'm set for the family in the US, lol maybe someday.
This is a great site and there are lots of very knowledgeable and helpful people here in this forum. I'm sure you'll have a great experience here.
By way of comparison, in my opinion this site is more civil than audiworld, though I do note that quattroworld has improved things a bit in that regard. However, that could be because the group of people who left audiworld and moved to quattroworld are more in tune with each other, having a common dislike of the new look, feel, and management of AW. And heavy flaming can occur here, though the moderators do a pretty decent job of keeping things reasonable.
You will enjoy the 996TT when you acquire it - it's definitely a great car. I'm a former Audi owner (B6 S4) and I'm very happy with my Turbo.
Again, welcome to the site.

Thanks Whippie, yea AW has a close knit group, a lot of guys moved on from the Audi scene to other cars, thats kinda what attracted me to this site, its not just devoted to one automaker. Me, I just don't like to let go of any cars, lol. Although I might be letting go of the GTI, not sure yet its been as reliable as my mom's corolla, I guess I've been lucky, taking care of your ride helps a lot. The Audi is just gonna be a beast when all said and done, definitely not a DD.
Welcome Paul. This is a great site and has helped me out many times. You might as well sell the others, cause once you drive the turbo, the others will just collect dust

Welcome. You'll find a lot of folks here who cut their modding teeth on the 2.7T engine.
Welcome, and lock up your wallet. There are way too many toys available for these cars, which include a Porsche tax, and the members of this forum are all too eager to help you find them.

Welcome! Welcome! Yep, like the guys posted above, you'll meet some wonderful people here and you'll learn so much! These guys are a bowl of knowledge and ideas!
Thanks guys, I hope to find a nice 996 in the classifieds some time soon here, can't wait.

Welcome Paul - you'll find this site a good place to learn and find ways to spend money.
Good luck on your quest to find your car - and good for you to be able to buy a "supercar" at the young age of 25.
Cheers,
Rich

Thanks, I've worked hard my whole life in school, so its time to live a little before I have to get married and have any _____ , lets leave that blank for a while. Just turned 25 yesterday, I guess there was no other way than watch the Cubs win in dramatic fashion in the 11th inning with a 2-run homer. There would be one way better, if I drove a 996 to the game and back.
