Best pump gas in California

Ive always used Arco gas just for the fact they are the closest two stations around the house. My fiancee swears that since she changed over to Shell she get much better performace and mileage on her Mitsubishi Spyder. I put a tank in the other day in the Civic (87 oct.) and 91 octane p-car, but haven't notice any significant difference. Has anybody else have a favorite brand they are sold on? I cant see going out of my way to spend more on gas for no differance in performance.

The stations that I use where I live are just the busiest stations. Evo did an article on this a while back and their conclusion was that freshness of fuel seemed to have the biggest impact on performance. Most of the fuel in your area probably only comes from one or two companies that are close to you. Stations may have a very small amount of additives that will be added, but I have not found much a difference when using the major brands...

I have found Shell to be better around here. I would get noticeably better mileage back when I was keeping mileage records. They did advertise that fact a few years ago as well...

I wanted to use Shell in my P-car, but they only carry 91 octane out here anymore. So I got to my local Wal-Mart (Williams) and get 93 octane... Or I will use Chevron if I am near one.

You are lucky to get 93 oct. In my part of the world it's only 91 unless I want to drive to Famosa or Buttonwillow 30 mi away for some race gas. One of these day I plan to do that just to feel the power difference and potiental the car makes. I read that it makes a lot difference.

OCTurbo is on a distinguished road
My father was in the oil business for many years, so i know something about this subject. The major difference between "good" and "bad" gas is the additives that clean the injectors and other engine parts. The 2 best products in CA are shell and chevron, because they have the best additives (v-power and techron). If you have an older car and switch to one of these brands, you should see a performance difference by about the fifth tank. I only use shell or techron.

Arco for the Scion
76 or Chevron for the P-car
Also, some 76 stations around here sell 100 octane, so I like to add a little of that to my car once in a while.
