Harnesses in 996tt
Just got GT3 seats and tequipment rollbar. Anyone know the best harnesses to get? I prefer the 4 point harness in silver/white color. Please reccomend as there are so many out there.
Post pics if you have any. Thanks.

you want at least a 5 point so that you have an anti sub belt...the GT3 seats will accomodate a sub strap...also you should get the GT3 specific belts from Scroth (don't know about others) because they have the correct mounting ends for the lap belts (makes install a lot easier)
If you plan to track the car at all, most clubs will not accept 4-point harnesses anymore, at least that's the case in my region. I have 6-point Schroth (3" shoulder) and have been pleased. They are not DOT street legal in my state so I must either use my OEM harness or both.
Good to know, I guess I will get a 6 point harness for the track. Can you take off the two bottom harnesses and just use as a 4 point? Not a daily driver but seems like a pain and un-necessary to always buckle 6 ways. Also uncomfortable for just cruising around town.
the two sub straps merge into one connector...so essectially there are 5 connections not six...and one of those is always connected...you can leave the subs under the seat for street driving although they are not at all uncomfortable (just don't cinch the belts as tight as you do for track driving

I left the original seat belts in my car, as well as the harnesses. I find the harnesses too uncomfortable and restrictive to use on the street. They hold you in place so well that you can't, for example, lean forward to look around a corner. I use the OEM 3-point for street driving.
I have 6-point Teamtech belts in my car. You can get a bar that fits under the GT3 seats on the mounting points that eliminates the need to drill the floor for the sub strap.
As noted above, most schools will not allow a 4-point setup. With good reason. The lap belts tend to ride higher than a normal 3-point, so you can slide out under the shoulder/lap 4-point combination in a frontal impact.

Status Racing has a great 5 point harness that I've been very impressed with. They also are releasing a limited Silver color that looks amazing. Shoot me and email and I can get you detailed pictures and pricing.
Whats the opening width on the GT3 seats, the status comes in 4 and 5 point harnesses and are 3.0" in width. The harnesses come with both bolt and clips, on our car we where able to weld / tap the bolt into the base mount.
they fit 3" belts but the lap belts designed for the GT3 seats come with ends that are made to bolt to the seats themselves not the floor, which makes it easier on the console side of the seat...for most racing series you will have to attach the harnesses to the chassis for DE and PCA, POC the seat connections are ok...
I have the Simpson cam-lock 6 point harness and it works great. It has quick disconnects that hook on to Brey-Kraus stainless steel eyelet pieces that mount to the GT3 seat. This allows you to easily connect, then remove the belts when not in use. Perfect set-up.
