Cancer Sucks... Been a long day...
Hi Mike, I don't really know you but I hope the best for your mother and family. I work with breast ca patients almost every day, I do the lymphoscintigraphy procedures before the mastectomy surgery as well as other nuclear medicine procedures that breast ca patients do in our department. I've seen many patients and it is amazing at how great the treatments have become. I wish your mother a fast recovery. If you have any questions about any procedures or anything like that just PM and I'm sure I can answer them for you. -Paul
I feel for you. I went through hell with my Mom as she fought. I learned the true meaning of courage. My Aunt, 35 years ago was diagnosed and was told best treatment mastectomy. She had both removed, she passed away a year and a half ago at age 102. I hope your mom sticks around even longer than her, cuz moms are great......
Thanks Tom, and all of you guys for the well wishes... Tom I may well take you up on this as I have some questions for the Doc that my mom has been very sketchy about...

Mike sorry to hear that. If you have any questions you would like to ask that you didnt get out of the docs or you just want to know call me or pm me.
patients that have surgeries that dont enter major body cavities (chest, abdomen) usually are up and around fairly soon and even go home soon.
hopefully she wont need chemo or XRT
call me if I can be of any help.

Mike,
I'm sorry to learn of your mother's illness but happy that she survived the surgery and is doing well. She must be a very strong willed person that is loved very much. I recently lost my father. One week he's out playing golf with my son at Torey Pines and the next week he's gone. He was my best friend. When I reflect on our relationship and all of the great times we shared with one another...well, it made it much easier for me to accept his passing. Enjoy the time that you have left with your mother and focus on the good things.

Mike-
First I hope she has a speedy and complete recovery. Don't forget to congratulate her on a "new beginning"
On a side note, I own a financial planning firm exclusively for physicians, and I'm actually pretty darn good at it. Consequently, my clients are all friends of mine and always asking what favors they can do for me. I have taken them up on their offers in many of these types of situations.
If you ever need an oncologist to look at anything, a radiologist to look at the films, scans, etc. or just a great family doc to talk to, just call my cell phone and I'll make it happen in 10 minutes. No questions asked. Just say the word. My cell number is 828.234.4015
Tell her Happy Mother's Day from all of us here!

I agree, cancer sux!
Cancer killed my Father, killed more than one close friend, and my Great Aunt at nearly 90 had the same procedure your Mother did and is doing well years later so keep your chin up. Best wishes for a speedy recovery and good that it was caught in time! Get some rest!

Mike, I'm very sorry to hear about this. My brother just had surgery for thyroid cancer. He's doing about as well as can be expected for one week post op. I wish you the best of luck with your mother. Let's hope my brother and your mother have many, many good years ahead of them.
Wow bro. Life sucks sometimes. Be glad she's here and cherish the time. Hope she pulls through.
I'm not the praying type, but I will think positive thoughts for you and your family.
