Suspension setup

So it appears the previous owner destroyed the suspension with race springs and stock everything else.

What are you guys running and are you happy with it?

How much was it? Installation cost? If wanting to sell an old setup even stock, PM me

Thanks for input

Btw PSS10 is top of my list right now

Yea what Tom said, Except how do you know that the suspension is trashed? I mean, really... Did an Indy shop tell you this? What are the signs...

There's a pretty extensive Sticky just above that will help you with some of these questions... PS10s are a decent entry level coil-over, but make no bones, they are pretty entry level...

When you say "race springs"... Stock struts with Lowering springs?

For more detail, I was at a very reputable shop today and they explained my car has an H&R race spring which is too much of a drop to be left on stock struts, the springs had sagged and now he thinks my struts are shot because of it...

what would be the best way out of this situation? they suggested the pss10 coilovers but I'm looking at over $4k installed... so I was wondering if others here have experience with that setup and enjoy it, or if there were alternatives that I should look at given what I intend to do with the car.

My main use is a daily driver in the city of san francisco so I'm not trying to get into anything thats too agressive or low for daily use when I'm rarely using on the track. Although I do run out of the city to hit twistys pretty regularly.

thanks again for ideas/suggestions

good to meet you today ballinGPM and it's sagged way beyond where the range for those springs is. Might be able to see the date on them (sometimes H&R's have that) and that will give you an idea of how long they've been on there. Without driving the car it's hard to tell but what you're describing sounds like it's also pogo-ing everywhere too I've seen 2006 997S' with H&R springs sag over an 1 inch the space of 18 months and your car is set very low....

I'd still say PSS10s or stock. Anything else will be pretty aggressive, noisy and more track-orientated. The Bilsteins are a great street-level coil over kit with enough adjustment to make them compliant and very functional on the street Otherwise I can always keep an eye out for a set of stock shocks/springs (take-offs) since we throw them away a lot!

See if there's any way to get more of a history on the car (service side from Porsche) as well as maybe the previous owners (not always easy to do I know).

I have PSS9s on my car and they are great on the street when set to soft. When I started doing DEs, and got hooked, I found them to be too soft even on the stiffest setting, but now I drive the car mostly on track, so I'm upgrading.

I lived in Berkeley for 14 years and burned the clutch in my truck doing the hills in SF. How will you avoid that with your turbo?

I have my stock setup I'll sell you cheap plus shipping. Only has 10,000 miles on it.

And Alex and Sharkwerks are the best.

Alex, thanks again for your time today it was great to come down and see the setup there. After some more research I think I'm headed for the PSS10's as we discussed... keep your eyes peeled for any leftovers as I may do an interim solution, get another DD car and go for more agressive with the turbo

I'll be calling all the SoCal dealers tomorrow to try and get more history on the car and then its off for alignment/wheel bearings? on friday.

landjet- clutch?? ive been thinking that since i picked up the car it's gonna be tough but i guess ill just cross that when i get there. i don't see it lasting long especially after some toys from sharkwerks

You better research the long slow grades up to the top or you'll be buying more than one clutch.

Sounds like you'll have someone else replacing the suspension for you, and you are going to pay that cost anyway. Why not do it right and upgrade the suspension? Maybe you can find an used set of PSS9s or PSS10s on the board.

Scott- I'll take em that sounds great, please email me chanson2005 - gmail - com

Wheel/tire shop today tried to align the car, all 4 tires are bald on inside edge because the cambers so far off to get the wheels in the fenders, so i need to do something quicker than later, and now need 4 new tires after the suspension and alignment....
