Installed my PSS9's. What a PITA!
A friend and I installed the Pss9's on my 01 996tt on Saturday. Took us 10 hours from setup to cleanup without more than a couple 5 minute breaks.
The time would have been FAR, FAR, FAR shorter if Bilstein would improve their crappy installation instructions. They are WORTHLESS! Truly unbeleivable from such an established company. Practically no car specific information even though the instructions state they're for a 996tt. Also, the detail on which parts you use from your old suspension with their shocks is practically non-existant. I could have done better with a crayon.
Basically after the first couple of hours working on the front suspension we were back to exactly where we started . Literally. Finally we worked out the 'trick' and we were on our way. Not easy but at least doable.
The rears where quite simple except again, because of the instructions, we were unsure of which washers from the old shocks should be used on the new install. After the second side was done we decided that the first side was incorrect and we pulled it out again and corrected it. Total, total waste of time.
But the final results seem to be worth it. The car looks much better and the ride quality doesn't seem to be too badly compromised. The car is currently being re-aligned so I'm anxious to see how it feels after its done.
This weekend I will be doing the PCA DE at Motor Sports Ranch and am hopeful all the effort will have paid off.

God bless you, I will do some mods on my car, but I would never have tried that one myself, sounds like torture!
Typically, alot of these aftermarket instructions basically suck. Thank god I found RPM Racing inc to do my major mods, I wouldnt know where to start.

Since you've done this now....could you write up a synopsis of the correct way to do the installation? I'm planning on doing it myself in the near future. It sure would make it a lot easier.
Thanks!
Thanks!
How about alignment after, I just think having it done professionally is always the way to go. I happen to have owned a Car shop in NY back in the 90's and have every Snap On tool known to man kind however I let Champion do the work, Itskind of what makes the economy go round. No offense but it sounds like you own more toys then you need or really should have loose some of them and lighten the load...JMY2Cents
