I have owned a 944 Turbo S and a 1993 RS America and countless other high HP cars without traction control/stability control. I've done many DEs and autocross regularly. I'm by no means a professional, but I've never wrecked a car/crashed into anything on or off the track.

I am in the market for a 996TT, GT3 or GT2- they all have their positives and negatives. I use my 4th car less than 1k a year so its not a major use issue.

Slow4s- that's a good point. I'm going to ask for some "before" photos.

Very nice, but those are not "high HP" cars...

Try a paint gauge or whatever it's called. It will definitely tell you if panels have been replaced.

Thank you.
I dont believe there are VIN tags on the panels. The only things I think he can be talking about are: build tag under hood/bonnet, VIN tag on driver door, Airbag sticker on passenger side door jam, and catalyst/emissions sticker under the trunk/engine compartment.

Unfortunately not. It will only tell you of previous paintwork, not panel replacement. You would have to know the difference between original panels and replacement panels to determine that.

OP, can you PM me the seller's info? ...

Guys, I've reached an agreement with the seller. If the deal does not work out, I will pass the info along. Please PM me if interested and I will send it out in the order received.

As "Exclusive TT" posted I only checked the VIN Tags on the door, hood, engine compartment.

Panels were not replaced, a small 3" dent was popped out on the driver fender (it was a parked car). Panel was then repainted- no bondo, hood and front bumper were repainted as well due to rock chips. All panels are still original.

PPI was good... so I'm cleared to press.

If you can, get an extended warranty through Prizm Solutions - I have no affiliation with them. I bought a 996TT a couple of years ago and got a brand new engine and transmission through them on my extended warranty, with very little hassle other than them cheaping out on parts prices.

I'm going with a warranty through Porsche of Melbourne as I anticpate taking my car their for service; its the Fidelity Platinum. 6 year/60K bumper to bumper coverage for $3200... If it doesnt work out I will look into prizm.

Oh and for the record, around $60K was what I thought I could get it for (Hoku). ~$70K is the actual cost at this point. I dont want people to think that I totally robbed the guy

that kind of defeated the whole point of your thread to begin with. You should have stated that in the beginning

Porsche of Melbourne has a very good GT2 tech and Andy the service advisor is also a good person to know. Looking forward to having ANOTHER GT2 in the Space Coast. Now bring that puppy to Sebring or PBIR and use it for the what it was designed for. .

Even at $70k......

You STILL "robbed the guy"! That is one heck of a price on a GT2 with no stories. You can thank the economy and have probably made an "investment". I think this may be a genuine low water mark for the cars. [I always despise the flippers and don't care for the collector mentality as I reallllly think all these cars are made for driving.]

Then I realize I barely drive my GT2... too many cars. too old. too..whatever. I love how it looks sitting in the garage and it is a "3 tires down, one tire up" getting out of my rather steep driveway.. It is a PIA to find parking as it original and dentless.. and my old modded 930 begs me not to ignore him in favor of the new kid..... and I hear other cars making little noises to get my attention... each saying "Pleeeeease drive me. Please. Pleassse." Sometimes getting what you want is...too much. Be careful how much you wish for.

OK I gotta go out and depreciate my GT2.
