What's normal oil consumption? The guy using 5-40 instead of 0-40 hwo much did that cut back?

Get ahold of Silverstar recycling in Sacramento, CA...they get the wrecked cars in and there is very little call for the manuals....parts yes....but you might get a manual pretty inexpensively since they're usually in the glove box where no one goes for parts...Check with Oklahoma Foreign also....you can google them.

I don't know if r34D meant 5W-40 or the Mobil 1 5W-50. The 5-50 is on the approved Porsche list for acceptable viscosity. I'll be using it this summer at my next oil change....and a number of the guys in the hotter climates like Nevada and central Calif are switching to the 5W-50. Usually, I run thru a quart of 0-40 in about 1500 miles...so I'm going to the higher viscosity 5W-50 since we dont' get sub zero tems here but do get 100 plus heat, so the heavier viscosity shouldn't run thru the engines as much as the 0-40 does. I dont have a comparison yet...but in a couple months I will be able to comment on the rate of consumption.

Everyone's vehicle is different. I was looking at burning maybe a quart every 1500 miles before. Then again, its been a LONG time since I've driven my car due to my current overseas status.
