PSM (0) zero centring
PSM (0) zero centring
Who can shed some light on this?
If I am to align the car to factory specification do I “really” need it?
What is involved? What parameters can actually be set/reset?
Is it just steering position to “the new” (0)?
I understand from writings that PSM measures a bunch of things; acceleration, steering position, yaw, and roll angle as well. If I am to fit firmer springs surely that affects PSM with reference to roll angle?
So what exactly is PSM reset - what is reset?
Lets discuss...

I read the service manual says to zero out the steering sensor whenever there is an alignment done or any suspension changes. What this actually means will have to be explained by someone who understands it better than I. Intuitively makes sense that the changes will be seen as the new normal by the sensor.
Service manual states very clearly that the sensor needs to be resetted after any modification in suspension, such as allignment...However technical director of Porsche here told me that on 996 there is no need to do that...on997 psm light turn on and it does sefl reset after a two minute drive(same is at Golf GTi V i did it the other day....)
This really is interesting. So, car comes out of the factory with PSM sensors calibrated to stock values. Then let’s say you hit a pot hole and the alignment values go out. Now what? It would follow that PSM would now be misreading the car unless it is self adaptive. If the car is then realigned back to factory settings PSM sensors should without interference read the car right again. Am I missing something?
